Lammens took our player out, it wasn’t in the box but he would have had a clear shot at an open goal. Should it have been a red?

Why do you think it wasn't a pen? Dangerous play doesn't require you to make contact, think of when players try over head kicks and get close to a player's head, it's an automatic free kick.

If that happens outside the box it's a free kick every single time.

It was a certain penalty for me and especially once it was given, I can't believe VAR got involved.
