Ross Stewart

It was a transfer which was 100% the right decision for Ross Stewart and 100% the right decision for Sunderland.

Speaking of 100% that is what he gave on the pitch every game for us, he was a rare bright light in the dark days and fired us out of L1.

A great player for us all things considered and I wish him nothing but the best. Never understand the snide remarks towards him.
Thats all correct. Nothing against the bloke but same as Clarke, don't get why people do constant updates about how they're getting on.

We've far surpassed them now and they aren't our players and didn't want to be here. Thats fair enough and their decision, don't see why fans care so much about how they do.
I think that’s harsh. They offered him a massive payrise.

He was absolutely right to take it. Especially with hindsight
Course he was. Doesn't change the fact that he wanted to go though and it bizarrely gets people angry if you don't care about ex players on here.

Fair enough, each to their own on that score.

So the grass was greener

I’m certainly not angry, but 1) it’s a football board where people talk about football 2) he seems a good lad.

You seem angrier

I don’t understand why anyone is bothered tbh. He’s just another ex player who we’ve massively improved on now. The only thing that would bother me is if we were bringing him back!
For me he helped us like Tommy Watson etc get us from the most dreadful league so I will will always be grateful and wish him well
If fit I’d hope he’d eventually make the Scottish team.

Can't believe he's not starting league games for Southampton, not like they are storming the league either

He’s basically not kicked a ball for so long he’s probably re learning the sport. He’s gonna be so so far away from the player we had it will be a monumental effort from him to get back to championship level. Which let’s face it he only played 15 games for us in. I’d imagine touch, turn of pace etc are all long gone

His career trajectory finished in the warm up at boro

Was good for us at the time, he helped get us out that turgid league and we got him a good deal to secure his future whilst earning a good profit Good deal all round looking back we have moved on miles from him.
