Yorkshire v Durham : CC September 24

Raine as usual has done most of the heavy lifting this season. Potts has not had a good season by his own high standards. Carse has virtually been out all season due to being an England regular.

After that we have young lads like Minto and Hogg who are capable but still learning. Killeen was showing good promise but was offered a derisory contract and decided to move on.

Then there are new signings like Bailey and Aldridge. I felt it was.too early to put him in any first XI. Aldridge presumably will play red ball cricket so it's a wait-and-see in his case.

Potts has been crap for two seasons, it’s absolutely mental he’s in the England squad. Just goes to show, form doesn’t matter a jot.

Not looking forward to next season at all.

Atleast we can’t get relegated next year.

Lyth goes to 50 on his birthday, he’ll get his hundred. We’ve never troubled him.

Agarwal has been shite for Yorkshire, they’ve been calling for his head - we’ve let him cruise to 50
Bostock and North are so obsessed with them getting a franchise that they have taken their eye off the ball where it matters.

Bostock has lost all his goodwill for getting the club back on its feet in my book, we’re at quickly becoming a real risk of ending up in a worse state than when he arrived.

As I have said for years about Mr North, he's only interested in himself and his own personal gains, likewise Bostock who wanted the top job at the ECB. Recruitment has been an absolute disgrace and I'm still pissed off we have allowed a promising hard working young academy lad in Killeen leave whilst we are offering outsiders longer contracts, it just doesn't sit right with me at all. Once again I have banged the drum all season about injuries to bowlers, that points towards coaching/fitness techniques as the amount of injuries just isn't bad luck at all, they're doing something wrong and when they are fit we are poor and that falls on the coach Mr Onions who has had an incredibly easy ride this season. Obviously repeating what I have said about Bostock, like North only interested in himself and his franchise cricket aspirations along with North, they had their fingers in the Leeds team the pair of them, with Bostock a former director and North was seen pitch side with that team numerous times. Tough times for the club after a lot of hard work to get back, and whilst some people weren't fans of Mr Botham, I'd have him back tomorrow, he has a presence about him, got the club, mixed well with members and overall did a canny job sorting out the mess after the relegation. Since Bostock, North and Collins (I have no idea what he does) have had free reign, things have rapidly turned to shit in just about every section and that has now found it's way onto the pitch and I honestly believe this lot gambled on this reduction going through meaning we would be ok in the top division. To bring a club cricketer in for a relegation run in, has been an absolute disgrace of a decision and heads need to roll for this because it's simply not good enough and this isn't a one off.... remember Chemar Holder last season who was playing at some point last year in the Derbyshire cricket leagues?

I'm saddened what has happened this season, I believe we'll be relegated and if by miracle we aren't the above points remain and people need chasing out of this club as they have massively under performed and let this club and county down massively.

It's simply not good enough after a lot of hard work to get us back to division 1, the neglect this season has been unforgiveable and in my opinion verging arrogance from certain areas of the club.

Rant over

I credit Botham with that, he was superb for this club, will always praise him for what he did for Durham. Bostock saw Durham as a stepping stone, zero affiliation with the club and absolutely zero respect for members.

Who'd have thought we'd be cheering on Surrey as our last hopes.

As we're certainly not going to win, so we need a draw and hope for Surrey to win.

It’s simple now
Only one game matters and that’s Hampshire v Surrey praying Surrey win
Yorkshire aren’t going to rock boat going for a win they’ll just bat until they feel like it
It’s funny to think or contemplate we will take 20 wickets
The Yorkshire main seamers threatened throughout, Potts considering his England status is having zero impact he hasn’t for weeks, poor
We don’t deserve to stay up if truth be told

There’s not much in it for the seamers after the first hour. I think seven of the twelve to fall have gone in either first hour of the day. The other nine hours of play have produced five. A couple of them to the spinners. Not uncommon for September that. I’m not saying it was enough to make it the wrong decision, but it should certainly make you think twice about batting first in September.

I acknowledge all that you say, my question is, you would like the heads of both North and Bostock to roll, who is above them to wield the axe?

Not sure to be honest.

Campbell isn't going anywhere and whilst I am loathed to criticise him he needs to accept some blame as well with team selections which at times have confused the life out of me. I think he's been dealt a rotten hand by those above him especially with recruitment.

Not too long ago I said how I felt the relationship between club and members was heeling after the Franklin and to an extent Lewis shambolic days, but this last year has been an utter disgrace, there is no connection between anyone inside the club and the members and as we know Bostock lied out of his arse regarding the consultation about reducing the games, he was made to look very silly about that.

As we are not a members club, I genuinely don't know who could force Bostock out of the club, however I assume he would have some say in North and Campbell?

One thing of note looking on companies house, it lists Alison Curbishley as a director.... wasn't she a runner?

Amanda Hopgood is still listed as a director as well, which surprises me as she is no longer leader at the council which is where I assume that appointment is linked to given the council bail out?

Someone called Alan Crawford is listed as a director and he had links to South North, so he'll be pally with North.

The whole thing needs a massive overhaul as this simply isn't working.

Frustrating times.

We're in familiar territory here...like the night Chris Lawler scored his tap in for Liverpool at the Fulwell End in 1970 and the Thursday night we got beaten at Goodison while Jimmy Hill's lot played passy in that delayed match at Coventry in May 77. That sinking feeling again.
