Boro thread

Great start for them , hope it continues.
That standard of play last night was grim to watch if I’m honest. They need to get promoted and bin every player bar Hackney abd start again. It won’t happen , Gibson hasn’t got the European staff and contacts that we have.I genuinely hope they go up and we only have to beat two other sides to stay up next season.

Bookmark it you always have a wobble come Christmas time
I know that's supposedly 'common knowledge' but personally I think that's a bit of a myth.
Most (if not all) clubs go through a sticky patch in the course of a season.

First two seasons under Carrick our best form was in the second half of the season.
Last season we were bad after Christmas but I reckon that had a lot to do with a pretty bad transfer window and the head coach having taken us as far as he could.

Wise words from a supporter of a well established, champions league chasing club 😂.
Nobody knows what European 'contacts' SG has (or needs), we have a recruitment team that seem pretty capable of doing their jobs.
And, just a thought - your policy of 'binning' everyone and starting again may or may not prove successful.
You've only played a handful of games.

Yes, you've shown ambition, but it's a long season - your European staff and contacts haven't proved themselves to have made the right calls in not trusting most of the players that got you there in the first place.

A knew a couple of wins would at least bring one of the famous two heeded boro 4 back out on here..😂

We havent binned many mind, sold a couple for profit, and gave ourselfs massive psr head room, ones out on loan, another went back to parent club, and one that played some part is with yous, lost his place to a young lad with a magic back heel. Weve also gave a fair few new contracts.

I think the return we have so far has vindicated what they have done. It was all doom and gloom about promoted sides staying in the Premiership, and breaking it down into poor starts and that continuing. Not being good enough to complete etc. And quite a few fans of other teams, said they'd take pleasure out of us getting beat every week etc.

At times all this thread was about was pulling us down, 3 or 4 boro fans agree with each other, who were clearly very wrong even though they were very insistent.

You can see the contradiction in you telling us its been a handful of games, while defending your own recruitment team and your start to the season or the expected seasonal run of poor form.

I'm not trying to say your policy going into this season is 'wrong', I'm saying it hasn't been proved right yet.
I was responding to the poster who said we need to bin everyone if we go up , but won't be able to cos we haven't the 'contacts' you have.
ie: nobody knows who SG's 'contacts' are, we've brought players in from Europe and in any case there are more than just European players out there that can do a job.

No contradiction.
Of course I'm going to be pleased with our start, and with the capabilities of our recruitment team, BUT I'm also fully aware that it's a long season (for us as well as you), and things can easily go 'pear shaped'.

My post was more in response to the person making out that we have no means to do 'what needs to be done' should we get promoted, and also this assumption that what your club is doing, while impressive and ambitious, doesn't guarantee survival.

It's clear to anyone who has watched us that our strategy has worked, pretty much every new signing that has started has looked like a massive upgrade. Only really Talbi and Adingra haven't absolutely stood out.

Much poorer league than last season they have a chance. As worked in Boro for years few Boro supporting mates they where thinking anywhere from 8 to 12th at the start of the season.

Not one has them making the playoffs could end up having a similar season to us last year.

Match was very poor last bar their second well worked goal. They look hard to breakdown and the 3 relegated sides not started great.

Good.

But just to be clear you said,

'We have a recruitment team that seem pretty capable of doing their jobs.'

'Your European staff and contacts haven't proved themselves to have made the right calls'

Weve played 4 games and after last night you 6.

Either a few games is enough time to make judgements or not, but can't be both, subjectively or objectively cause thats a contradiction.
