I'm not sitting here saying he's had a good season in the red ball.

Just I will defend the guy in that he's been asked to be all over the place. Hard to find form when moved around the order and in and out of the side.

That Worcestershire pitch was horrible to bat on so he got 3 knocks in his actual position on pitches that weren't impossible to bat on.

I think the plan to not just bat him at 3 from the very off and make him back into an allrounder was just stupid thinking.

The same daft thinking has seen the best batsman In Clark this season having to bat at 7. While Robinson has continued to somehow stay at 5 most of the time.

I think our best route to survival is a draw and a Surrey win at Hampshire

Well that's not remotely true. He's not England class but he's a solid Division one top order batsman. Just not shown it here yet in the CC, as today was a glorified net.

Captained Warwickshire to win the Championship. They didn't want to lose him but he wanted to play more T20 cricket.

He'd have had a much better season at Warks as he'd have batted 3 every game there.

As I think has been said. Lees was maybe expected to leave and we got his and Borthwick replacements in the form of Gay/Rhodes in while we had chance. Then as Lees stayed we were then left with 4 players to fill that top 3 position. So they've had to shoehorn him into the side filling in for McKinney and Bedders when they've been off doing international duty. Sure he got a chance to bat 3 when Ackers wife had a kid too.

Campbell claiming we viewed him as an allrounder sounded daft from the beginning.

He got a chance to bat at 3 when McKinney was away and then batted 6/7 when Bedders/Ackers were away. Not really easy to build form being moved around the order and then not picked.

Will Rhodes batted well today, needed a 4 day score and got one, pleased for the lad. Emilio Gay too .... they did their job !!

Feel our best at Yorks will be to bat well and not get beat, we cant take 20 wickets ... so I reckon its all down to Surrey beating Hants and our bonus points plus draw will be enough .... hopefully.
 
Well the best we could do today was to get 5 batting bonus points and that job was done. Pity Hampshire drew but it's still in our hands now. At the end of the day this relegation mess is all of our own making.
 
Very poor quality match that especially the bowling on both sides. Interesting looking around the county scene at the end of the season a lot of the teams look very ordinary without being able to field their allotment of overseas.
 
Didn't realise Hampshire only had 12 bonus batting points this season.

Think as both of our games there in the last 2 seasons had been bore draws 500 plays 500.

Got to back Surrey to do enough there based off that alone. As their attack will have more than ours does on flat wickets.

Its really difficult to identify any young(ish) player that has developed this season to any degree. One player gets excused due to family tragedy. Our more experienced players have underperformed to varying degrees. This isn't bad luck, although we have had injuries (who doesn't) but the blame, regardless of next weeks outcome and/or whether we are saved by reorganisation, lies firmly at North and the coaching staff's feet. The players must also be culpable.

There is no apparent accountability for performance and it seems to be a very cozy setup.

To think it only seems like yesterday that I was excited that the season was about to begin and we had Brendan Doggett who had taken loads of wickets in Australia.
 
I wonder if Bostock and North are confident that this two tier system of a 12 team first division is a done deal and this is why they dont seem to be too bothered about results as we would stay in the top division.

It would explain the apathy about results at administrative level.

From what I've seen neither his batting nor bowling is up to county cricket standard. He seems a reasonable short form cricket player though.
But maybe he just taking time to find his feet at a new county. He's certainly going to be here next year to prove it.
