Isidor / Haiti

The excellent Real Dictators podcast on the BBC includes a – which is worth a listen – inc background to French colonial rule. Basically, violence is baked into the Haitian culture. Add in plenty of voodoo and it's a volatile mix.

I knew it was Dominican Republic but at the time didn't know it was connected to Haiti like.
I’ve been to the Dominican Republic myself.. it shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti.. Haiti is shit dirt poor and we were strongly advised not to go there.. you wanna complain about your tour reps! 😉

Isn’t Haiti run by gangs? Odd choice from Isidor if true like.
Seems like none of the players are actually based in Haiti and they play their home games on another island, Curacao.

Quick google shows they have a chance to qualify for next year’s world cup so maybe not such an odd choice 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just didn't realise, I thought Dominican was its own little island. Nearly 20 years since we went and only recently after watching the video and seeing the little map.
We stopped off on a cruise , 24 years ago . You could see the deprivation then . Not surprised it has seen the problems it has now like . It's really sad . I can't imagine them having much of a football team .
