Essex v Durham County Championship 8-11 Sept

Beginning to look as if the 12 team conference(2x6) will be accepted for next season hence no relegation according to latest Cricketer newsletter.
Sussex have apparently dropped their opposition to reduction which should now give the majority required for change
Haway the Proposal ;)

Any idea when this might be confirmed?

I mean good for us in the short term sense if it does, but what a joke it makes of the current games, this season’s competition and ultimately of the sport if it happens. Can’t be good in the long-term.

Football might have a lot of things wrong with it, but you can’t imagine it ever contemplating this sort of farce.

The comms mentioned on the Essex Durham stream that there's a meeting next week between the counties to discuss the new proposals.
Hampshire are not out of it. If they lose this one they still have Somerset and surrey to play.
There's an article on the Cricketer website (behind the subscription part but I'm too much of a cheapskate so can't see it) that Hampshire might be getting a points deduction for a dodgy pitch.

Voting papers on this single amended proposal will be emailed to counties on Monday 15th September with a meeting of County CEOs to finalise on a decision "sometime next week"
Likewise pending sanctions on Somerset(v Durham) and Hampshire(v Susssex) for preparing below average pitches are to be announced shortly.i.e. pardon my cynicism "When they know how many points they can safely deduct Hampshire without relegating them".

Nah. As others have said, it's a difficult ask to talk all day while being informative and entertaining. He does like to tell us all where he has been on holiday though!
Ashley Thorpe manages it perfectly well and the other lad that does it with him
Emmerson is painful, only ever his motorway journeys, holidays he’s been on amongst various other waffle

Of course,it's each to his own taste. Personally I find Thorpe and his sidekick monotonous.Marty is meticulously prepared regarding statistics whilst clearly Thorpe appears to do no preparation.

Have to show some fight today, no more middle order capitulations, a draw coupled with a result either way in the Sussex game will mean progress is made in reducing our deficit, despite another poor showing, and another hammering for our ever weaker bowling attack.
