Essex v Durham County Championship 8-11 Sept

How on earth do you take 20 wickets when 2 of a 4 man attack take their first class wickets at 40.

Potts has been dreadful this season he’s been brilliant for us but miles off this season.

Conner’s is terrible a real North special guy has signed utter dross!

Agreed mate it’s so poor Parky is a T20 bowlers and the less said about Conner’s

Position in the games that impact us. Teams from 5th to 10th battling it out to stay up.

Worcs 53/6 after being put into bat.

Somerset 82/2 after Yorkshire put them into bat.

Hampshire 67/2 after Sussex put them into bat.
 
4 man attack is astounding, especially when Connors and Parkinson are two of them. Why did we sign the lad yesterday if he's not going to play?

Are we expecting Ackermann who has bowled very infrequently of late, to be our 5th bowler? Yikes.

Especially from a coach who hates draws. Clark should be batting at 4 and another bowler playing.
 
Sorry to break the negativity, but glorious day and excellent first session. Supporters around me are convinced they're in trouble!
 
Despite the strange team selection .... which I still don't get ... this was a good session for Durham, we have to go big in this innings ..... its a good start.

Drissell will have already travelled to Newport as not in the squad

Rhodes will have travelled with the first team to Chemlsford to then be made to travel for another 3 and half hours to Newport. After deciding not to pick him this morning.

Absolutely disgraceful treatment of him this season

A good session but making me think it could be a 500 plays 500 sort of pitch.

But then they've got a spinner like Harmer that could change the game if it is a bit flat. We've got no real game changing bowling on this seasons showing, expecting a lot from 2 bowlers that have barely played in the CC this year.

Parky 4th game and Conners 2nd. Heavily relying on Raine as Potts has been poor this season averaging just under 40.

Just my opinion of course but let's see what happens when both first innings have been completed. They will have to bat last and with us batting first and as I type we look like posting a big score with the extra batter being played you never know what scoreboard pressure may do.
 
If we lose a wicket now I'll be annoyed. Umpires should have thown it back and told them to get on with it.
