Thought it was 24?

Edit. Yes it is understandable 24, but he will be 24 in April, so no compo.
It's 23 and under for compensation. 24 and older doesn't qualify.

Anyway, find it strange that we signed Massuaku. Assumed at the time it was because Cirkin had a move lined up closer to the window (why sign a player in early August who won't play until mid September) but as that hasn't happened and there's nothing to say he isn't on track to return after the break it's just strange. Is he going to be out longer than expected?

Unfortunately from about Christmas, he wasn’t in the top ten best left backs in the Championship.

Towards the end and especially in play-offs, oppositions were even targeting him as the weak link.

I’m worried about him tbh. I don’t see him as good enough defensively for this level, for all that he’s got ability going forward.

That said, I don’t think I would have signed two left backs, one and Cirkin would certainly have been enough.

Something is amiss.
I think that's unfair mate, he was clearly injured and likely playing through that injury as we had no one else to fill in. Cirkin was comfortably one of the best full backs in the Championship and still has a lot to offer imo.

Possibly free and available giving options/cover and the potential to sell Cirkin if fit/interest depending on contract.

I doubt anything was lined up with Cirkin due to current and constant injuries. Also having Alese permanently injured meant it was cover we probably needed.

Not seen him in training videos (or maybe I've being blind!) like we have O9 so doesn't seem like he on the grass yet.

My read of Masuaku is it's never bad to have squad options and he felt like a safe if slightly unexciting option (but games are often won by safe and unexciting players!), and whether Cirkin is fit or not it gives us more options at the back as apparently he and Reinildo have played CB in the past, too.

39 games last season
We've played 212 games of competitive football since he signed for us.
Cirkin has made 120 appearances (or been selected in the squad at least)
92 games missed, although there will be a handful of cup games he wouldn't have been selected for, but it's still a high number of missed games. He's had significant injuries every season he's been at the club.

He's a good player. He had a tough 6 months but great potential. Be a massive shame to lose him. Hope he's here for a few more years yet.

Didn't realise it was that many he's missed tbh

Entitled to your opinion, I have concerns.

Like I say, I feel he’s been a bit hard done to by us signing two left backs.
