Club store

I’ve got to say, the club have absolutely nailed the merchandise this season. I’ve picked up a few bits myself, and the quality is spot on. The sponsor-free shirts look so clean — easily the best we’ve had in years. The pre-match tops are even better in person, making a proper eye-catching impression. I really like the t-shirts. I grabbed one of the retro pieces too, and it’s unreal, you can really feel the difference in detail. Even the hoodies are smart, comfy, and something you’d wear anywhere, not just on matchday. Honestly, the whole range feels a level above — you can tell a lot of thought has gone into it, and it really shows.

I’d agree with all of that. The prices are eye watering though. When the new tracky top was announced, I said to my mate I doubt I’d get it as it’d be about £60. It’s £70. If they’ve got the audience & it’s selling, which it appears to be, fair play to them, but it’s definitely premium prices.

I think it’s pretty standard across the board really, personally I don’t think we should be selling them for much less.

One thing you have to give them credit for is the price of our shirts. Most clubs are at the £70/80 mark and then often a more premium player version at over £100.

If you are buying online you’ve been able to use a 15% code for all 3 shirts to get them for £51, and if you wanted you could have had a free name and number on the back too. I bet there’s not many, if any premier league teams that are as cheap as that

Let’s not get carried away. Stock levels / availability have been appalling all summer - eg there have been months where the away shirt has been out of stock for most sizes.

I also don’t understand why they don’t release the new shirts earlier in the summer.

Aye, my gripe is football wide regarding prices.

Morning, David. ;)

Did you reply to the wrong person there?

Clubs going to bankrupt me at this rate.
This. The last 3 times I’ve been home the bairns wanted to go, hemorrhaged money.

I grabbed the black top for myself, didn’t realise until I bought it that it doesn’t have the ship badge, still a canny top like and a few of the boys coaches have asked who’s top it is and commented saying they love it.
As said above, we have some decent gear these days.

I have news for you on that front and it’s all bad I’m afraid
I think if we stay up ( and dare I say, do so comfortably ) I think prices for tickets, merchandise, match day drinks and eats will all go up.
I doubt we’ll ever be at the eye watering rates of Arsenal, Man Utd but it’s the way football is heading.
Hope I’m utterly wrong but when businessmen see an opportunity to take your eyes out they aren’t usually backward coming forward as it were

Season card prices went up a fair whack after promotion. Should we stay up that will be more widely seen when next year's renewals come up.

We've seen BCB replaced with more "premium" hospitality.

More ranges in the club shop, more retro shirts, more opportunity to make money.

The club obviously needs to maximise what they have coming in, and at the minute the club shop and the ground are both selling out, so it looks like we'll pay it and be happy with it.

They'd make more money releasing shirts earlier, having a pre order option and keeping the bigger selling sizes in stock. Instead they bring out multiple ranges all over the shop. Get the basics right and add the extras later imo

Where as there is a shortage of some stuff and you can’t just go into the shop and just buy what you want, haway son I’ve just had a bonus I’ll treat us to new tops, dad I know you’ve got a belly but ya not 5xl and I’m 12 not age 3-4, I can’t remember this ever being an issue previously (outwith the dark years obviously) when we had club shops in other locations.
Maybe they’ve got this spot on supply and demand being the basics for any business. I remember in the old days stuff was always reduced to sell after or around Xmas time this won’t happen with these guys. Maybe another example of getting stuff sorted.

Was in the shop at the weekend and stock levels were pretty poor but maybe they’ve got their stock levels spot on I dunno. The clamour for new shirt releases etc is exciting and seeing them fly off the shelves is great to see.

Nah, you’re right. My bairns tickets were £48 in League One, I think about a tenner dearer in the Championship. This year it’s up to £110(ish) on early bird & it was about £200 after. I’m expecting it to be £200 next year. Now, £10 a match is tremendous value, but it’s all going in one direction. I’ll be looking at about £1k next year for ticket I reckon.

If they go up that much that's me priced out, first time in 60 years.

Whilst I've bought far more stuff the last couple of years I think the overall quality of the products has gone down this year.
I got the light blue training top and there's bits peeling off the chevrons on the shoulders already. Also the away half zip with the little lighthouses, the material clicks even if you just look at it.

Mostly trivial stuff really but they're charging premium prices.

We took the early bird renewal so avoided the hike this year.
I can well see an increase of around £200 on the price next season if we stay up.
I’m quite happy to pay it, but in the current financial climate & possible hammering in the November budget I’ll probably have to consider binning the golf membership next year.
I’m certainly not giving my season ticket up, no matter which division we’re in

The black top has had its detractors but I don't mind it. Just wish the tracky top didn't have the massive eyes on the back.

I heard a stat that despite their popularity and the prices, our income from this stuff is still lowest in the league. Which makes sense given other clubs time at this level and the worldwide appeal that goes with it.

We also make 500k from Hummel for the deal. By contrast, Man city and Liverpool make over 100m from their suppliers. Absolutely mental.

Fwiw, I'm glad we have the Hummel deal even if the money doesn't back it up. It feels more Sunderland as they were the kit supplier when I was a kid, and the quality is mint.
