Swindon Town 25/26 thread

You can't score too many goals......he''ll be thinking about his GD just in case anything comes down to that.

Highest scorers in the division and in fairness we have 5 strikers that can all score goals.
Holloway just wants to outscore the opposition. Working at present and still have some key defensive players coming back. It’s looking positive.

Off the ball we have improved considerably. The only issue when you are 3-0 up most will go for game management just shutting up shop.
Not Holloway he brings on another 2 forwards. Entertaining for sure.

Would not be suprised if one game we get a hatful.

Holloway will have covered most or all of his options, the season goes in stages so for now it looks decent.

Off the ball work is massively key & some don't realise that. Develop a tight unit then crown it with scoring goals, playing habits are being developed. I'm pretty sure he'll have the shut-shop side of it covered as well as the batter teams side of it (whenever necessary). What he's probably considering is that oppo sides will work out ways of frustrating that he needs to counter.

Your style will possibly change when bad-weather pitches time comes. Game by game get the job done.
I note that ex-Carlisle Jon Mellish is now at MK after his move to Wigan; he produced one of his "challenges" yesterday that ended his game with Grimsby three up that prompted an unsuccesful comeback attempt. Good old Jon!

Looking very tight in your league at the minute.

Makes it even more important to pick up wins against those around you.

Easy 3 points for you today as expected as I told you so earlier. Relegation scrap for Barrow alas this season.

Still very early days mate.
We have the best squad we’ve had for some time. The team spirit created by Holloway is something I’ve not seen since Wellens.
From what I’ve seen so far we have as good as a chance as any other team in this league. Going to be some decent games and a few bumps on the way.

Holloway has been incredible for us on the field. I will cut him slack with a few of his digs at the fans regarding the ownership support.👍

Not so sure Mate. They have a few missing at present and a few decent players.
A few will come unstuck at their place.

A shout out to you Barrow folk. What some wonderful people I met yesterday.
My lad said the same. Not one twat encountered all afternoon.

Said from day 1 Holloway was a great appointment for you.
He is happy getting home to Brizzle every night, and a happy, vibrant Holloway is a thing to behold.

If your squad is anywhere near good enough, as it seems to be, he is the advantage you have over all the rest marra.

Really want you to do well this year marra.
👍👍👍

For years our first 11 has been adequate but the bench full of kids that are not ready and struggle to make an impact.
Yesterday on the bench:

Billy Bodin - Experience and scored goals in League One.
Ollie Palmer - Experience and scored goals in League One.
Danny Butterworth - Scores goals from midfield and Holloway has put his arm around him with the need to be better without the ball. Changes games and playing well.
Ollie Clarke - Can play midfield or defence. Coming back from injury and needs to play in midfield . Reckon he will as soon as our new signing from Wycombe is fit.
Joel McGregor - cracking young player coming back from injury and being tracked by some big clubs.
“Prince” Ehibhatiomhan (a commentators nightmare) - Came on and scored. Very quick and good feet.
Lewis Ward - Reserve keeper and adequate at this level.

Still have 2 young lads from the Shit Heads on loan and not featured yet.
They will be available for selection next week.

League Two is all about consistency. You don’t need much to get out of it.

Get into em Swindon lad

Was caught between taking Swindon or Barnet to get promoted in my pre season accumulator. Long way to go yet but regretting taking Barnet. Love Holloway as well.

....Apart from a good manager/hc at that level who uses them all wisely to get the best from them?

Top of the League.
Top scorers in the division
Joint best winning run across the EFL

On the field can’t moan, not at our best today but such a strong bench.
Unfortunately takeover is dead but can’t have it all.
Now to keep it going until the job's completed. Secret of a good set up at any level is to pick up points with functional performances. As I posted last week you're in the driving seat (whether top or joint top) it's for others to pass you now. Do your own job well it's in your hands.

Some of the passing and interchanges second half were way beyond league two.
Looking good. Tough test away at Salford Saturday.

I think you'll do better in tougher games, the ones when you're expected to win might be a problem. Tough away games will posssibly be when you perform best

The passing in our 2nd and 3rd goal excellent. Most teams would then shut up shop but Holloway just wants more goals. Look at the moves after 8mins. Lovely football Palmer should have buried that. We are scoring some cracking goals from open play.

You seem to be good with (and around) the ball - which scares teams. That mantra works when going forward & defending. Do it well and you won't go far wrong.

Get your shape right and make players fulfill their in-game responsibilities so the end result is a good one more often than not.
