Durham Second XI 2025

215/0 from 41 😬. I imagine there was some poor bowling again
It was painfully ordinary at best although credit to De Caires who was very assured. Without picking on Archie, I worry if he is planned to be a front line bowler next year. He puts in the effort but can't seem to generate any degree of consistency. He seems to have a mindset for 20/20 rather than the long game. Statistically he wasn't the worst today. Conners had patches of keeping it tight combined with getting thumped about. Hogg suffered a bit too. Even when he is fit he looks to be on the edge of breaking down. He looks fragile. Drissell was reasonably tight if unthreatening. I can't remember a genuine chance being given or the bat being beaten much at all.

There's an S Ghafari in the Durham line up. Could be an 23yr old Afghanistan leg spin and googly bowler with good bowling pedigree. Any chat at the ground about him?
That’s him, been at Richmond last couple of years, he’s English qualified now.

Devils advocate here… if NYSD runs don’t mean anything then do NYSD wickets👀
Probably means more than runs. However, Ghafari has figures comparable, arguably slightly better, than Mohammad Irfan at Marske who has over 300 wickets in Pakistani 1st class.
Certainly Durham should be monitoring him.

He’s signed for a year, in the squad Monday apparently...
