Well, yeah, but ultimately we could have said no as there was no immediate recall clause in his contract.

Why else would we have agreed to it?

There was also a well publicised penalty fee if he didn't play X amount of games/minutes, which the club probably realised was unlikely to be met in the end.

Hopefully we are close to a deal for a striker.

I think this very unprofessional by Chelsea. They agreed to a season long loan. They have Pedro and Fofana and it doesn't look like Delap is a long term injury. They have options. This stall the players development.
