SOL expansion

I’d expand the South Stand as a single tier only if it was up to me. Two tier home ends rarely work, hence why a lot of new stadiums try to create big single tier ends like at Spurs and Everton
what do you mean two tier home ends rarely work?I must have missed the memmo or are you are talking nonsense?please explain?... coz im not convinced you've thought through your argument!

It's not being negative, it's just not being deluded. Some of the deluded lot in this thread have been calling for an expansion since League One and have a different reason every week, the latest one is because a Champions League team in Spain has done it.

A negative view would be to downsize the stadium.
Take your negative asssssss back to pride rock zimbaaaaaaa

Won’t happen our stadium isn’t designed for a huge single tier

The stadium was built 27 years ago with subsequent extension built on and then a mirror image for the opposite over 20 years ago...granted by the looks of the recent renders of the south it does look like they are continuing the double tier round but it's bollocks that the stadium can't have a single tier. The stadium is built in a way to 360 the footprint round as an easy build but the seating arrangements, pitch of stand, single stand / double tier could most definitely come into a design as a variation to what was first drawn up

It's brilliant, but I think we're maybe talking about different things.

The existing planning permission lapsed, I believe. No new plans submitted to planning although the club have released their plans as part of the objection.
I was asked for proof of planning. Does anyone have proof it lapsed?

One be great to extend the south and keep it 1 tier. But its likely any extension would be to boost the amount of corporate seating as much as "general admission" so I cant see it happening.
Standard after 3 years iirc? Unless the pre commencement conditions are met and works begin. This may have happened, I don't know.
Can I as hell find it but there has definitely been an echo article about KLD renewing the planning permission which also triggered a thread on here about it.

The original south stand approved planning permission was re-submitted 31st March this year
From the above it looks like weve put in a plan proposal in march for them to look at but no decision notice has been issued by the council ?So the council havent ok'd it yet? is that just a procedural thing or could the council turn it down if they wanted to be awkward?

It needed to be started within 3 years of approval which it wasn't so I expect will have to go through approval again...because already approved that should be an indication of its decision but obviously the goalposts have changed on the council side with their development in the planning process in the background...all a bit messy

100%. They are childish
To be honest ive always thought the mascot and badge logo thing was always about appealing to the younger fan especially when the disposable income(pocket money) of the younger generation became a thing in the late fifties early sixties ..I suppose its the rise of commercialism but before that no adult was interested in what form the crest was !When we won the cup in the 30's they cobbled together a crest to put on the strip but only used it for that game !Adults didnt go to the match wearing footy tops until the late sixties early seventies and the black cats commercial stuff started with a supporters club aimed at youf!

Well, our very own North stand didn’t really work out. Upper and lower tiers rarely act in unison as they can’t see (or often hear) what the other is doing.

One large bank of supporters is far easier to generate an atmosphere. It was how must home end terraces were built. A lot of new grounds have built a bank, Everton, Spurs, etc. for this reason. I’m not saying two tiers never works but I think we tried with the North and it didn’t work.

Sorry i dont believe any of that ,,its the action on the pitch that generates the atmosphere and always has..the rest is just tinkering bollocks! When you say "we tried it with the north stand".... well for 99.9% of the time the footy was shyte, boring and uninspiring so what the hell do you expect ..... put action on the pitch and the sol is as noisy as anywhere on the planet two tiers anarl!

Yep its very messy but i hope the compromise ..tbh the sol should become a beacon for the city no longer tucked away on waste ground but the beating heart of the city becoming integral to a forward thinking modern community setting.....the keel way should be developed to show the country what our planners can do and part of that that involves creating the plaza that the club suggests towards the south end of the ground and not just shoe honing in as many buildings in as they can to satisfy a house hungry government.
Walking across the keel bridge to the stadium to a the magnificent vista of a glass fronted south stand and plaza would be a fantastic advert for the city and we need to promote this as much as we can !
You can foxtrot Oscar with that, just got a tattoo of it.
Personally i dont like clowns! ;)

Anyone class on photoshop who's done what itll look like inside with a double tier around the south, west and north? Or even better a red wall single tiered big south stand

Personally I used to enjoy the north stand black cats (born 91) walking up and seeing then was a bit football echo esk. The cats look childish to me now but meh
