I even told him as children we used to either walk along the river to Chester-le-street and get a bus back or bus there and walk back along the river. He still didn't believe me and said he would have to check it out on a map. That big cricket ground in CLS is called the Riverside because it's beside the river Wear.
I had my sister in laws husband telling me his father is from newcastle. I asked which part of newcastle and he said Chester-le-street. I told him Chester-le-street is on Wearside, just outside Sunderland and he insisted it was tyneside.
Anar you take these surveys/votes etc with a pinch of salt but didn't it get voted one of the best places to live in the UK?‘Whitburn is ruff in places’the nicest place to live in the north east for me
I used to work with a bloke from CLS who would tell people from the south he was from Newcastle. Absolutely wouldn't have it that he wasn't a geordie. Utterly bizarre behaviour. Same fella also claimed for years Washington wasn't part of Sunderland despite driving past a welcome to Sunderland sign on his way home everyday. His reasoning was it had an NE postcode![]()
Just corrected her on her Pub stops group and she's said exactly the same thing. And 'lets leave it there'I wrote on yesterday that it isn't near Sunderland, its IN Sunderland. She said it's good enough to give people plenty information where it is. I told her she's giving people plenty of the wrong information as it's in Sunderland.
She deleted it![]()

Would it really have killed her to correct her post? Speaks volumes tbh.
Get them same crap from Washy/Penshaw dwelling Mag mates.I used to work with a bloke from CLS who would tell people from the south he was from Newcastle. Spot on.Sunderland ends at the A19 imo.
Houghton Le Spring is Houghton Le Spring
Washington is Washington
Penshaw is Penshaw
Just because someone drew some lines in 1974 doesn't automatically make it part of it imo. It's not in Co. Durham nowadays either.
It's the same as Whickham and Birtley aren't Gateshead, Throckley and Dinnington aren't Newcastle and Wetherby, Otley and Guiseley aren't Leeds. They're in the metropolitan borough though.
Yes sorry just realised I blamed the wrong group in my post, it was UK pub stopover reviews for motorhomes and campervansJust corrected her on her Pub stops group and she's said exactly the same thing. And 'lets leave it there'
