Are people really serious about relying on a 5ft9 CB who got into the Prem at 30? Sorry guys, as much as I love Luke, he's not the answer. I hope he gets games in the cups, but in the Prem he can only play as a sub in the last minutes for me. He is a DM that played as a fullback and then CB in the lower leagues and people think he's the solution while Mukiele shouldn't be tried as a CB since he played there only in a back 3? 😂 If Luke can play out of position I guess this 6ft2 guy from PSG can at least have a go there.

I love Luke but agree with this. Just think 90 mins per prem game will be too far for him.

Edit: although CB is his best position mind, mainly agree with your wider point that he’s not really prem material.

If you think O’Nien is a better DM than CB then that’s your first issue.

He doesn’t say that. Just that he started as a DM when he first arrived before later moving to RB and CB.
I remember when he told the manager at the time that he’d previously played RB, even though he hadn’t. Desperate to play!

You've missed the point. He's best at CB, but he got there after playing DM and fullback, so I can't see why Mukiele won't succeed there because he only played in a back 3 at the top level. He's tall and strong, unlike Luke who's a midget for a CB. Can you see him trying to stop the big guys in the Prem?

He’s not massive but I don’t think he’s 5’9.
A few online sources have him that height but others have him 5’10 and a half and some T just over 6ft. I’m just over 5”10 and I reckon he’s a smidge taller than me.

Exactly. He was the soul of the team, incredible attitude. I hope he retires as Sunderland and he gets a job at the club after that. I just can't see him being good enough and physical enough for the Prem, the mags have two CB's that look like Basketball players for instance.

I have just layed out a perfectly sound argument why I don't think we should rely on O'nien, so if you don't agree you should counter with your argument, you know like adults do. If anyone is wired incorrectly it's you, I can't believe I have to explain this to adults.

You've been relentless long before that post you just made. I care as little about your assertions about what we MUST do now to survive as I did about your previous assertions about what we MUST do to get promoted. You know far less about what this club needs to do then you seem to think, as has been proven by how consistently off the mark you were last season.
