SOL expansion

Because they'd mothball the entire redevelopment programme as it costs money.

But the club's hand may be forced if they need to get the South Stand out of the way before the Sheepfolds gets done.

Can't do corporate in the East without extending it outwards, because of the infrastructure needed to support it.

£8k sold and a waiting list. We have to make 5% of capacity available for match day sales. There's literally no spare capacity left.
Do you reckon the East Stand would have a lot more corporate? I noticed this in the SAFC Objection talking about the new proposal from June and the mention of 66,000 capacity. Given the 48,700 now and the new 5,300 from the South Stand making 54,000 that means a 12,000 East Stand (and corners) surely?

Page 16 Section 2.7 The Club had previously obtained planning permission for the extension and enlargement of the Stadium’s South Stand (along the lines of the extension undertaken to the North Stand). Whilst that permission had lapsed, Sir Bob was firmly of the view that the potential for an extension should be protected, and ‘ring fenced’ in order to ensure the Club’s future viability. In this regard, on 25 July 2025 the Club submitted a pre-application enquiry to the Council in respect of new, updated proposals to redevelop an extended South Stand. This proposal represents a further step towards the Club’s vision of a 66,000 seat stadium (which will ultimately be achieved by extending the East Stand, which was designed in a manner that would facilitate such an outcome). The current Stadium scheme is slightly smaller than he one that obtained planning permission previously and which was in mind when the SPD was finalised.

Something like the Liverpool stand that doesn't have to be a mirror image of the West stand? Would they be fussed about losing some of the car park? Or is that 66,000 just the very old capacity that then became the more commonly mentioned 63,000 and that would now be less given the South stand has reduced from 7,200 to 5,300 losing 1,900 off that?

Page 5 Section 5.4 The Application certainly has not considered any future expansion plans of the Club. The Club has recently lodged a pre-application submission with the Council for there development of the South Stand to increase the Stadium seating capacity by c.5,300 seats (smaller than that which was previously granted permission at 7,200 extra seats) and which would have been in mind when the SPD was drawn up and adopted.

The way the SoL is designed is for easy expansion by mirroring other stands. An expanded East wouldn't be as deep as the West, which has player/press/office infrastructure on top, but would extend as far as the North Stand does, most likely with an infilled ground level to expand the lower bowl concourses.

I wonder how its gone from 7,232 seats to c.5,300 as the plans show its the same height as Premier Concourse. The original plan was for 5,500 at 21 rows and then changed to 7,233 at 27 Rows unless they are incorporating a huge TV Screen into the extended South West Upper Corner.

Wrong.

The attendance against West Ham was 46,233.

The capacity of the ground is 48,707. So not sold out.

We did not even sell out v the Mags last time we were in the Prem.

Gravy.

General admission was sold out entirely. That capacity is incorrect now anyway due to the away end etc.

Ah right that explains it.
Are you saying we have an extra 2500 corporate as that was the only tickets not sold. All standard tickets we sold within a few days, club even said general sale sold out

Villa being a prime example as they are now looking to expand. They also closed part of their ground when they got relegated. Its mad how so many don't see why it would be ridiculous to expand right now
Mate if i buy a bus ticket i couldnt give a shyte about empty seats mate just the quality of the bus and the service it provides !If Bob had listened to you or yer da in 1995 he would have built a 25000 seater stadium at Roker park and i am thankfully Luddites like yourself wont get much sway with a progressive forward thinking always looking to improve ownership group!

I’m just quoting attendance and capacity figures.

I have no other info.

if we ended up with something like that we could no longer laugh at the shit tip

If the ownership had the same mindset as you they'd be commencing construction now. Luckily as they don't they'll do it in a season or two if we maintain PL status and relegation becomes less likely
