SOL expansion

Think what is most likely to happen is the North and East Stand have corporate boxes but in them at the back of the lower bowl. This would necessitate building outwards, along the East Stand at least, to accommodate the extra corporate facilities. At the same time they can widen and modernise the concourses of the East Stand so they can make more revenue from fans on match days by making it easier to buy a pint or some food at half time (and maybe make it more attractive to spend money in the ground before and after the match). If that works out they should modernise the rest of the concourses in the stadium.

With the addition of the extra corporate boxes at the back of the lower bowl in the North and East stands, this would result in a reduction of capacity (maybe about 2k? maybe more?) so the working capacity of the stadium would probably end being about 44.5k (assuming that the current one is 46.5k). Whether the club would feel it necessary to extend at that point would be up to them and depend on whether they want to keep it the same and increase ticket prices or expand the South Stand to more than make up for the reduction in capacity.
Im sure the corporate stuff is probably right..but adding an extra tier to the east stand would form only a small part of the expense of the total build you describe and they would be fool not to add extra seats then rather further than down the line as it would cost more ..... our owners are smart and they will get the most they can out of every pound spent......time will tell as it always does but i would put 50 notes on it not happening the way you stated would you do the same for my analysis?

While adding a tier to the east stand would form only a small part of the initial expense, you also have to factor in operating costs (maintenance of the new tier, staffing in the concourse etc) i.e. your day-to-day spending on it. Then you would also have the interest repayments the club would be paying if it takes out a loan to pay for the new tier as happens with most capital projects. If we aren't selling enough tickets in the new tier to cover that day-to-day spending + loan repayments then it will reduce the overall cost effectiveness.

Im 100% convinced that your version of the expansion will not happen!can you say the same about my assessment?

If they expanded the whole ground some day I wonder if they’d consider replacing the entire roof including over the Monty and North Stand would really smarten the place up and be an opportunity to give it a more modern up to date look

Why the need to be so confrontational about it? Bloke just posted his opinion.

Personally if you see that as confrontational I cannot see how you function in the real world on a day to day basis? I was simply enquiring to how much conviction he had in his argument (logical sense of the word)...most exchanges on here involve differing opinions and I simply gave mine and that I was convinced his analysis was wrong and if you cannot cope with that I fear this place is a tad to raucous for you..

Capacity for the Women's Rugby World Cup is 48,707.
It is, we choose not to get anywhere close to that because we don't use the from seats in the north upper and the segregation.
When we played Liverpool and got the record crowd there was little segregation in the south stand.

No segregation and no need to give up a ridiculous number of seats in the front rows of the upper north stand. Grounds holds 48300 and we got this v Liverpool years ago but now it seems to about 46200 for a sell out just because things were thrown by away fans. Needs sorting, we shouldnt be writing off 2000 seats every home game.

I’m sure the SoL will be extended soon. What does need addressing is the current lack of space in the concourses.
Yeah, this would be the best bang for buck thing the club could do, even more so if they combined it with adding more corporate around the East Stand. Would make the match day experience for everyone much better too. Would be interesting to see if the club had commissioned someone to look into how to expand the concourses.

This is something that the club will surely be thinking about if survival is secured. Theres a way to increase to capacity by 1000 every game with what we already have. Thats over half a million in gross revenue from ticket sales alone if every game was to sell out.

Listening to that David Bruce podcast interview, I think stadium development is definitely in their imminent plans. It will all hinge on top flight survival however.

Agreed. Are they being made to not sell those front few rows? Tbh I'd be very surprised if fans of Premier league clubs start throwing things, and that includes newcastle fans

Put the away fans with the most points at the front. Those are the ones with the most to lose if they throw anything. The clubs know who their fans are when they probably have near enough the same people with enough points going to the away games.
