Big Dans no mug , he knows his level . As Regis said today its all about repeatability, at present Dans playing out of his skin and fair play to him but the others do that level as a regular job of work .
My guess is Dan will be satisfied with a place on the bench , closing out games like Hjelde has done, playing cups and knowing he's next up . His compensation is training day in day out with mature players that know the business and who will make him ' repeatable ' this year .

I think Lucumi is coming to start regardless but it'll just mean he doesn't have to expose Ballard/Alderete in games he might feel they aren't ready for. Ballard especially i know he's had a good game at the weekend but he's still only played 1 game at this level.

Your only as good as your last game....how brilliant was DB in that game, get what you mean though.

Ballard should be the first name on the teamsheet no matter who we sign if he plays like he did last week. He's earned that right. It's up to him to keep the shirt and he will if last weekend is the level he maintains.

He meant in terms of defensive incomings: we aren’t going to buy an extra one for the sake of it, they very specifically want Lucumi but are fine with the squad as it is if it doesn’t happen

Makes sense imo we’ve made some really good defence signings. Lucumi would be an added bonus

He didn’t really say that he just said we’ll see if we can get the right profile of player in if not we’ll stick with how we are but sounded like we are more likely than not to get the positions we need in. I think Lucumi will get done, they’ll sell he only has 1 year left and they are just holding out for the best deal but won’t risk getting nothing for him in the Summer. The winger could be anyone really, seems like they haven’t got a specific player in mind and just seeing if an opportunity comes up, if not I think they’ll be more content with missing out on a winger than a centre back.

Ballard is a warrior. There is absolutely no way he’s satisfied to be on the bench. He might accept it but he won’t be satisfied.

Lucumi is contracted to June 27 according to most recent reports and sources.
