Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

Am I right in thinking that if we'd bid and triggered the release clause, and had it accepted, before the the clause expired, we'd have had to pay in a lumper but as we've waited, we can pay in installments? Also, this helps us regarding PSR?
Yeah - if we triggered the release clause, we would have had to pay the fee upfront. Now we can negotiate a deal in instalments, like you say, to help us with spread the deal over 5 years.

Think it will average out across the squad at around 40-50k/week. So say 2.5m year x 25. Just over 60m/year on first team player salaries. Think we’re OK.

Going off last season's wage figures, that would put us in or around 15th/16th.

The best correlation of success/performance for a football club is wage bill. Always has been.

The club will be aiming much higher long term as is evidenced by the quality of our signings and investment, but I think we'd all snap hands off for that if offered now.

Paying in installments vs up front doesn't matter from PSR perspective, just changes cash flow.

It impacts PSR if it is contingent on something happening (like staying up).

Not quite...it's not how much you pay up front it's how you account for it. A 5 year contract means the outlay is divided into 5 years...£20m purchase would be £4m a year

Yeah but then I suppose he put a bit of context around where they might both fit in

can't see him putting Alderete at left back as he mentioned. he looks an absolute unit. can't see him being up and down the line and silky smooth like Reinildo

he kind of touched upon the left sided centre back thing again where it seems a left footer isn't allowed to play right CB. but the other way around is really common
