Nope. They're employees and are taxed via PAYE. At least for the basic pay and bonuses. They may be able to do slightly more exotic stuff with image rights and personal sponsorships (more the latter than the former). They do get a better deal in in terms of pensions; to recognise how short the career is, they can start drawing down personal pension schemes from their mid-30s.
