Probably the first time I've ever seen him play so he might go on to be a really good signing for them but that wasn't a good debut performance at all IMO

What could he have done about any of them goals?
He could be mint, he could be shite but he just looked like any other prem keeper that game

Ok. You seem to be of the opinion that people are only criticising him because he didn't come here. I pointed out that while watching (on a laptop without the sound on and while at times doing other things) I hadn't realised he was one of the keepers we had been linked to. Only making the connection when I noticed this thread. Let's just agree to disagree. I thought he was poor and you thought he was good. Neither opinion being biased by our supposed past interest in him.

Chiesa's goal was nowhere near the corner of the net. Would have been pretty disappointed if Roefs or Patterson had conceded that

He's hit it from closer to the goal than the penalty spot, the penalty spot where keepers need to try and do a best guess which direction the ball is going to go as they stand no chance watching where it goes then diving, plus he's hit it early and hard away from him. He didn't stand a chance on any of the goals scored, the criticism is just as bizarre

Daft bugger !
He made a blinder of a save from a close range shot . Unfortunately, for him went straight to Chiesa who was closer than the penalty spot, he banged it in the back of the net .
No blame on the keeper .
Just watching the replay of game now.

Eh he just palmed up a cross shot from Salah, wasn’t a blinder of a save at all.

I wouldn’t necessarily put any blame on him but but he didn’t do anything out of the ordinary for that third goal prior to it going in.

It was a decent enough save, the cross only just went past the runners in front of him. He had to react after the ball went past them as they could've got a touch on it and he wouldn't have known until after it was past them they weren't going to connect.

Absolutely this, he couldn't really do anything with any of them. I find it bizarre so many are jumping on his back after one away game to the best team in the league in a game he couldn't really do much to prevent the goals scored against him. We haven't seen a ball kicked in anger against the keeper we got yet 😂

Was spoor from the keeper to concede such a soft goal, no matter how you dress it up.
Just watched the highlights. He was poor for the last 3 goals, never a 25m goalkeeper. Of course, it's just his debut, played at Anfield and all that; he can improve in the next matches, we can't rule him out just by one game away at the champions. But strictly this match he was poor, I would've said Patterson isn't quite ready for the Prem after a showing like that.

Yeah, it was a poor shot, same as Gakpo's (but that one was better positioned tbf) and Salah's shot was almost on the centre of the goal. Very poor show on his debut. We'll see how he does over the season, he might get better, but he had a poor game, that's all I'm saying.
