Premier league rule. Back of striped shirts solid colour?

There are plenty of other solutions but they probably cost more than a white square. You could fade the stripes slightly around the numbers to improve contrast. Or have a clearer white band around the outside which should be quite simple. And if this was part of the stick on numbers, could even be included on the fan kit. Presumably we will get a better solution by the start or part way through the season as those white boxes are very “village”

According to chat GPT:

Black numbers printed on the back (with or without a white or red patch) would comply with the Delta L contrast requirement for Sunderland’s red and white striped shirts.

As much as I hate number blocks or solid backs on striped shirts... it is a nightmare trying to see our numbers at times like on the stripes

Is it just me who never pays attention to the numbers or the names

only time i do is sometimes for the opposition to figure out who's who when i don't know then by sight. But that's gonna be more rare in PL than it was in Champ/L1

Numbers on striped backs mustn't have been a problem for the cameras in 1973. Yet these "technologically advanced" 2025 versions can't cope. According to the PL, anyway.
If we can have solid black number it just looks more retro and would work a lot better than a single colour panel on the back

Not in my opinion. They’re a proper amateur outfit who provide shite quality gear.

Have to say mind, last year I would’ve disagreed, but when I went to the shop to look at the away kit in person it genuine my looked like one I’d bought as a joke in a Turkish market. Especially the writing on the inside of the neck and the tramline down the side. Honking quality.
