Mitch Killeen joining Essex

North is an absolute cockwomble in all respects. Bloke is absolutely clueless
He's not clueless,he knows exactly what he is doing. Run down the longer form of the game so that the children's circus has a complete monopoly. Beginning of the end for the sophisticated form of the game. Bring on the clowns.
And there are some on this board will celebrate its demise.

Already knew about McAlindon.

I also understand Wilf La Fontaine- Jackson isn't being retained either.

It was a no-brainer for Mitch to leave sadly. The offer of a multi-year pro deal vs a rookie deal is too good to turn down.

The amount of bowling loanees and signings over the last couple of years rather than promoting homegrown is staggering and sadly I can see a few more home grown players leaving over the next few years.

Durham is slowly losing the identity it was built on due to the likes of Bostock and North.

It was said on here he got offered another rookie deal with a 1 year pro deal following on from it. While Essex offered a 3 year deal.

So that's a clear failure from North but then then everyone will go for North, but not Campbell that has barely given him a chance.

He was undervalued by North and Campbell. So fair enough to the lad taking his chance elsewhere.
He was offered the exact same deal he's on now for another two years, but Essex have been looking at him for a while and offered significantly better terms.

Going to share a place with a couple of other pros that he knows, (Benks Jnr is one I think).

It is a shame to see him leave. Yes he had had limited opportunities but that is the nature of professional sport. Who knows he could do a Ben Raine and return a better cricketer. I am sure there are a lot of Somerset members disappointed that Aldridge turned down a new deal to come to Durham, whether or not that is beneficial to Durham only time will tell. I spoke to his dad when he made his debut and he was as proud as punch

Well this news is disappointing and not really what the club is about. I'm not going to be a hypocrite as I thought until this last month or so that Mitch was probably as honest tryer but not quite good enough with bat or ball but since he has actually managed to stay fit and get out to the middle he has looked good enough and a genuine prospect.

Totally agree.....he did so well against Essex in the 1 day cup but i reckon the deal had alreadybeen done prior to that game ( hence his lack of opportunities prior to it )
Good for Mitch that he leaves with a resounding "this is what you could have had" performance

Have said this on here before but Durham can afford to do one of either ditching local talent or losing games. Not both as they are now.

Even when doing well last year I lost a bit of interest as the local quota was going down.

In McKinney, Hogg and Minto we still have a few big prospects though so not all is lost.

Until they get sick and leave.

Our bowling attack is weakening by the minute. Ill be honest and say I was on the fence re Mitch in April but he has stepped up and is now producing as was proven this week. He didnt get a look in after his five for in cc which is crazy when you consider how many loans and journymen bowlers weve struggled by with this season. Our bowling , Raine and possibly Yusuf apart has been a mess in cc and its why we are in real trouble. Mitch Killeen would have been a shoe in for me for the last 3 games but that boat has sailed. I wish the lad well ... but it has to be said ... this is poor management by the club.
