Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

Wrong, I want nowt but the best but simply pointing out a players limitations, I could flip it and say there's some of you who simply see nowt wrong in certain players, even in league one we had World beaters according to some of you,
At the end of the day I'd like nowt more than to be proved wrong by luke, but I doubt he'll get much of a chance to prove it.
No one's said we've had world beaters ffs . You say you want the best then finish the sentence with simply pointing out their limitations, that's just another way of having a pop. Why not start a thread for you and others like yourself to Have a go at the players you're not happy with and leave these threads for the player/players that we've come on to read about.

Ballard is 6 years younger, much better in the air, much stronger

Ballard has a chance of being ok in the Pl, Luke doesn’t

Imagine him trying to mark Harland and the likes, Jesus - with Var he would be a walking red card
I’m telling you now Le Bris would pick O’Nien over Ballard.

I don't think we're intending to play them at full back.
No we’re not. But they can cover it in a pinch.

Ideally we’d be signing a top class defender who can cover RB if Hume if gets injured or doesn’t step up (or he goes to Wolfsburg)

So yes I think the context of the squad matters and our higher depth at LB means a right footed CB is more useful

I think both are true to an extent. A lot of the players from last season will have wanted to play PL football and, because many of them are young, I think PL teams would have wanted several of them to develop, especially given we might not be in a financial position to demand a fortune for some. Cirkin would probably be wanted, especially with only a year on his deal, mayenda possibly wanted as well, mundle if he wasn't injured would get interest. Rigg would have teams sniffing about. Hume might have done, same with patto, could imagine a newly promoted side looking at Neil with a year left etc.

So I think it's possible that, had we stayed down, we'd have had a hard job keeping the side together due to PL interest whilst it's simultaneously true that not many of them are currently good enough to be starting in a PL eleven and avoid the drop. A bit like Watson, not even our first choice in his position last season, I seriously doubt he'd be tearing it up in the PL if we played him every week, but highly regarded enough for Brighton to snap him up to develop
Superb post, mate.

I think 09 will surprise a few. When we got promoted from League 1 almost immediately plenty on here were proclaiming him not good enough. Felt like there was a desperation to "wash" the stench of league 1 off us by getting rid of everyone associated with it.

Most of of the league 1 crew went on to play a big part in premier league promotion

I love Luke, but the jump from class in L1 to the Championship is nowhere near the jump in quality from the Championship to the PL.
Sadly I think it’s a step too far for him talent wise
