Maybe it's just forward planning. We've been really ambitious this summer for a newly promoted side, maybe we're planning on the next level of ambition should we stay up... A £60mil signing next summer isn't too difficult to imagine at this point! 😆

I’m still holding onto the fact that the club didn’t even mention diarra being our record signing and made no fanfare over it like they would usually. Maybe because there’s something even bigger coming to smash it soon??

I could see us braking our record fee again for a top quality centre half or for a wide player who can play central (with a good goal scoring record in a European league)

I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a full season apart from possibly our one under Dennis Smith in the 3rd division in the late 80s. Footballs not really suited to long term enjoyment unfortunately. It’s more “strap me to the mast” for the majority.

I’ve been 275 mileish away for 42yrs. All ticket games sucked a lot of the fun out of football for the exile. Also despite having a ST back then I wasn’t at as many games as I used to get to in the “turn up and pay at the door years” plus it was ower easy in the Championship for that team as was proved the following season.

Had no idea leipzig spent so much on him. I remember him being an absolute world beater at Lens but still somehow missed the 45m transfer fee
