Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

Are the shitty knickers brigade honestly not embarrassed with the way they are going on?

Wish people could just relax and enjoy the ride. It’s obvious where we could do with a few extra bodies in and we will make more signings before the window closes.

We might even end up with a few square pegs in round holes but we are equipped to give a decent account of ourselves and some of the players who we don’t think of as first teamers could quite conceivably make the step up.

Not one of us really thought we would be happy going into last season with Mayenda as our main striker but it turned out the manager and the club knew what they were doing.

Get yourselves out of psychological self protection mode and just embrace the chaos.
You are mischaracterizing how most people are acting for your own nefarious reasons. Most people are not pooing and weeing in their hello kitty knickers. They are merely speaking about the lack of signings in key areas, a good defence is essential to staying up, right now we have a largely championship one.

I am sure we will get some more players in, but they might be more young lads and loans. It would have been prudent to get them in earlier, like they did with the midfielders, as a preseason makes all the difference to the effectiveness of a plan.

You say they knew what they were doing, but they've made many mistakes since being here. Most of their foreign signings have flopped so far, they failed to replace Stewart for about 4 windows, they wouldn't spend the going rate for a striker so we ended up with young loans like Burstow, Gelhardt, Simms, and Danns (which prob consigned us to an unnecessary extra season down there). It appears like we are doing the same this season by going in with young Guiu.

We really struggled for goals last season, especially after the first quarter when we rarely scored more than 1 goal per game. In the last 12 games or so we had the lowest goals scored in our league and all the professional leagues below us.

Let's face it, we scraped into the premier league by the skin of our teeth. It definitely wasn't the plan to score crazily late goals in the semis and final playoff games. We could easily be gearing up for another championship season, while trying to rebuild after losing all of our best players.

I am very happy with the money spent and signings made this window, but if we don't get 2 decently experienced centre backs and a striker, we aren't staying up. I am also dubious about the keeper, GK is another essential position to staying up, ours are unknown quantities at this level.

These owners have made too many mistakes previously for me to have blind faith in them.

If the club thought he was good enough, do you not think they would have already done it?
I think they've set their sights a lot higher which i admire a lot but I don't think you can underestimate how important these opening games are, we can't be going into them with square pegs in round holes. My point is I would have liked us to have got a cb in nice & early given how short we are there (not necessarily Tanganga, he was just a suggestion given his fee). As @Hulkster said we need 2 cbs, can still aim high with the other one.

Nefarious reasons?

Probably demanding big wages / signing on fee to bridge what his actual valuation would be.

Well, yes. Maybe. But that shows the broader issue. This is a market. People are trading their professional lives. And trading doesn’t stop until August 31st. So like, lots of people are going to wait. Because there may be better deals later.

It is wildly underestimated on here how effective we have been getting our business done early. Most clubs are barely beginning.

To be one CB away from dealing with all of your main issues before a ball is kicked is really impressive.

its telling how many of our squad have played in the premier league
And how many people on here have opinions of how they'll perform in the premier league.

Nobody has a clue, but i'd hazard a guess that behind the scenes ACTUAL experts have done an incredible amount of data and psychological based research to determine which players have the best chance of adapting.

And our recruitment is heavily based on that too.

We have players who have continually stepped up when it's been asked of them.
As much as it's a huge step up in class, it's also a very different kid of football to the championship.
It will suit some players skill sets - and others it wont.

Not everyone will make it, but I have a feeling a few on here will be gorging on humble pie come next May.

Don't get me wrong, it's going to be a tough year - but i have every confidence this squad will give a good account of themselves.
Many of them have been part of this whole journey and i expect them to grab the opportunity they've earned with both hands.
With the mentality they have shown so far, who are we to doubt them?

Let's just get behind whoever we put on the park and back them.
Til the end.

Tanganga at 1.2m is so strange. I’m not necessarily saying we should have triggered it, but it’s strange that NOBODY has. Something more there than meets the eye imo.
50 appearances for Spurs and 60 for Millwall (Player of the Season), and by all accounts i've read, is very well grounded from a really good family.
An attitude problem wouldn't make sense.

Maybe some kind of injury issue.
He had a big knee op when he was younger.

Agree though at 1.2m it's a no brainer so it's a bit of a puzzle.
He's pacy - something we kind of lack in defence.

Wouldn't surprise me if Levy added some sketchy sell on and it's being leveraged against a Cirkin deal happening

Sorry but it does, mark yer priorities then go straight for them, you cannot tell me these positions were not our main priorities.
Completely clueless and thinks the real world is football manager. You'll be wanting to change the coach by the end of September. Guaranteed.
I'd have him on loan, and he's available. Get it done
Can't be done. Hes only officially joined Spurs this window so can't join another PL team.

Everything crossed we get some positive news on a CB today. I’m going for a “here we go” for a completely new name.

Simms was not a mistake. He was a good signing on loan.

Personally can't see it. I think it'll be Guiu, Mayenda, Isidor and a winger who could fill in there. The club backs Mayenda and Isidor and have given Chelsea assurances of Guíu playing. Wouldn't make sense having 4 strikers for one spot imo
We still need a top striker who will be first choice. It’s usual to have 2 on the bench, and at any given time we will have injuries, so having 4 is definitely needed.

What a complete load of shite.

We also didn’t scrape promotion at all.

Not a bad shout tbf, but maybe Sadiki in the back 4?

...................Roefs......................
Hume..Ballard..Sadiki..Reinildo
..........Diarra....... Xhaka...........
Mayenda....Le Fee.......Adingra
.....................Guiu..................

Subs:
Moore
Huggins Seelt
Browne Neil Rigg
Talbi Isidor Roberts
The pre-season games might have provided a hint. I think we might go 3 at the back if we don't bring a CB in before the season starts.
Hume/Ballard and Reinaldo with Diarra or Sadiki sitting in front of them, before a more traditional midfield that includes Le Fee and Xhaka

I’d say Hume right back, Ballard and Xhaka centre back, Reinildo left back. 3/4 in their correct positions, only Xhaka not but with experience of having played there before. Not ideal, far from it as I’d want Xhaka in midfield running it, but it’s a temporary solution that has a mixture of balance and experience in a key area. That then allows the three of Diarra, Sadiki and Le Fee to play in midfield as they have done together most of pre season.

Ideally we have at least one centre back in before then so the above or any other stop gap workaround isn’t necessary. But I think that’s the best version of a starting side of what we currently have. And I don’t think it’s horrendous
Reluctantly I agree with you and I came to the same conclusion
