Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

i'm sure there's an abundance of bang average centre backs we could sign but the club seem to want someone better than that and aren't going to panic buy just for the sake of it. at least not yet. plenty time left in the window but this approach could really backfire if we go into the season with a makeshift backline and have a poor start because of defensive misgivings. what's the lesser of two evils? Seelt at CB or Jones/Huggins at LB. and that's assuming no-one else gets injured over the next week

Just swap Sadiki and Xhaka for me. We’d not be asking any player to do anything they’ve not done before there and we’d have some good experience at the back with composure on the ball which is also vital.

It’d be a midfield three that have played together in pre season as well. I’d be fairly comfortable with that for a couple of fixtures if we’re unable to get defenders over the line in time.

I think we'll probably play reinaldo at cb and maybe huggins lb. Maybe Hume lb and sadiki rb

It’s not ideal, but I’d rather have some experience and calmness in defence than gambling on two lads who barely have second tier experience let alone top flight. It’d at least be nicely balanced with the left footed experienced lads there as well.

The annoying thing here is fans putting together make shift teams on a forum, it shouldn't be happening.

We're a top tier club with huge resources and we've missplonked badly. The first signings should have been GK,CHs and CF, or if not signed negotiations in place from day one of the window for our targets.

The GX signing is a fabulous signing, he'll end up our coach in the future.

I think what we should have done is buy a Talbi or Sadiki equivalent at centre back then focussed on a more established one after that.

We need 2 anyway, but at least that would have given us some breathing space to wait until the end of the window if necessary for someone at a higher level like Bade, Lucumi or Diakite who were always going to be challenging to land.

We've left ourselves in a right mess now at the back. For all the amazing work we've done to bring in so much quality early, the defence is going to look pretty alarming for the start of the season unless something dramatic happens very very soon.

That's just not how it works like. You don't delay signing your key transfer targets cos they're not in a specific position
