Premier league rule. Back of striped shirts solid colour?

Club/Hummel can’t prepare for a rule they don’t know exists. I have a feeling it likely won’t look like that all season, Hummel probably need a bit of time to get a better alternative sorted.

I believe the club have already said they will talk to fans to find out if they want plain backs/striped backs or both options in future seasons.
Hummel make kits around the world I’m pretty sure they should be aware on a rule that clubs were told about last summer?. Feels like a massive oversight by them. You know what kids are like their shirt is t like the players, I can already hear my cousins son moaning 😂

It’s so bad man. They claimed they found out late but the rule was in the handbook from last year saying it would come into affect this season. Also don’t see how putting a white patch on would take so much less time than doing a proper panel that they decided that would be the right thing to do.

From what I heard the club and Hummel weren’t happy but to me it’s a Hummel balls up

Definitely mate hummels dropped a bollock. Like you say it’s been known about since last season Hummel surely are a big enough company that makes shirts around the world they should’ve known this rule was coming in. It’s a shame as it ruins the look of the shirt. You can see the bad press it’s going to bring, I await Karen from red house crying to the sun that her sons top is now no good and demanding something be done 😂

What an absolute shite rule that affects so many historical clubs that played in stripes for 100+ years! And for what? To be more visible on TV??? Why not impose a rule to play with a giant inflatable ball so we can see it better on TV? Why not force players to wear huge helmets so we can spot them clearer on TV or better off let's make all the pitches white with coloured lines....The game is becoming a joke with all this americanization of the sport.

This has been posted on another thread and appears to be correct although I doubt the match shirts will actually look like that as the main issue is having the name and number visible. That image just has the number on a white background.

"The on-field shirt worn during Premier League matches features a solid panel to accommodate player numbers, in line with league requirements. However, after holding detailed discussions with the Premier League throughout the summer, the Club will only retail a fully striped-back version for supporters, preserving the traditional look of our home shirt. This decision was reviewed recently with representatives of our fan groups and agreed that in future seasons we will open up dialogue to understand fan sentiment towards what is worn on field and sold at retail."

Spot on. Posted this on the home kit thread but things like this really grate on me so I’ll repeat it. If it is true, I know it’s only a kit some will say, but modern football just gets f***ing worse by the year. We’ve managed for decades/over a century with people managing to read numbers on striped shirts completely fine. Let’s face it it’s main importance is for the match officials and at a stretch, commentators - and if you need a block back to read them you’re blind as a bat and shouldn’t be in those jobs. We now also have names on these days, giving another identifier. I said on the other thread that it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s yet another done thing to appease the watching tv audiences, but looks like you’ve beat me to it.

Wankers in suits continuously thinking of ways to appease the armchairs and international fans. Depressing.

Can’t disagree with any of that. Modern football is cack.

I was surprised when the shirts came out without this because I always thought it was a league requirement to have the stupid panel on the back.
