Durham's one day cup campaign

If we are playing player spotting, I often see Lees and Stokes in and around Hartlepool due to where they live. I actually bumped into Lees at a family fun day at Billingham Synthonia yesterday.

Back to the original topic though. I don’t necessarily mind some games being at South North, but I would like them to be moved about. As a Hartlepool lad, a game at a suitable NYSD ground would probably be nice for me. I actually quite like the suggestion of playing a game in Scotland, I’d be more inclined to go there than I would Gosforth.
Why play a game in Scotland ? ....makes no sense......like playing a game in Yorkshire

The only way Bedingham gets into their ODI side for England is if they are resting a few and sending their reserves, especially as he hasn't made their white ball squad before.
If it is the case South Africa plan on calling him up. I don't get how him sitting on his arse for a month is good prep for him to force his way into contention.

The first game is the 2nd and the last is the 7th.

Our last One Day Cup group game is the 24th August and if we got through the QF and SF being the 28th and 31st August.

So f***ing plenty of time for him to prep if he was called up anyway

I hope I am wrong but to me I think Bedders is not as committed to Durham as he was before he got his first SA cap. Can see him moving on when his current contract is up
Contract up at the end of this season, I would guess it's more than likely we won't see him in 2026.

Aye defs feels a bit like that to me.

Imagine he'll have been pisssed off at how he was overlooked in the Blast. In favour of Turner/Parnell last year

Yeah once he committed to South Africa he is just another overseas pro " gun for hire".
Once his test match career is over he can have his pick of counties who will pay him very well as he isn't on the t20 circuit and knows county cricket inside out.
The big problem for him with South Africa is he certainly hasn't cracked test cricket and is now batting at 6 and with the "quotas" South Africa only want to play a maximum 5 white European players.
But it certainly feels his time at Durham is coming to an end.

The reason Thorpe is on the commentary team is because as a club employee he'll only ask North the questions North wants him to ask and why Marty's services were dispensed with.

Correct. He was "pally" and "nice" with Bostock last week. Gave him a very easy ride, thankfully the members didn't

Marty would have challenged Bostock big time

Always like the Gosforth day out and know it is a good ‘earner’ for the club as hospitality does better there using the cricket centre for tables than a normal Metro Bank 50 over game would at Riverside.

Naturally I’m not a commercial expert but would love to see the County go around the grounds locally in this competition - go further a field and connect with a wider potential membership. Appreciate the county have done well in this competition and playing at different venues negates home advantage but the trade off into local cricket and bringing people to CLS for T20/CC cricket may be beneficial.

Lots of good grounds mentioned above in the thread that are capable/have previous of hosting across the NE.

Not so sure that any of our local clubs have the contacts to attract the number of corporates or large sponsors that South North acquire to make the staging financially viable. Pity, been to both Beckenham and Sedburgh to watch Durham and both attracted large crowds but even a long established festival venue such as Cheltenham has been making losses.

Just in case there's any doubt I was being sarcastic.

What with the 'Hands up who has been consulted?' remark and Marty's questions I daresay Billy Big Bollocks Bostock may have spontaneously combusted.
