Manchester United to struggle?

Luke Shaw claiming on Sky Sports News “ They are no stragglers at Man Utd anymore”. He may be a good player when fit but its a bit rich coming from a player slowly becoming a permanent sick note who is contracted until June 27

If not for the current gulf between the newly promoted clubs, it would have had much more attention.

I hadn't noticed how bad the promoted clubs were doing until I saw where spurs & united were... to think we went down on 42 points once ffs.

The rot started the last season of Ferguson’s reign when they spent big money on Van Persie. Yes they won the title but at the cost of future planning. Then there was the appointment of Moyes instead of someone who was a proven success at a big club. They’ve been chasing their tails ever since.
The rot started when Ferguson left. They've done nothing of much note since then PL wise.

Remember that when SAF arrived at MU the club had won just 1 more league title than Sunderland.

Me fatha told me this staggering stat - since Man U won the league title circa 1910 - only 2 managers have won a league title at MU - Busby and SAF - that's it.

the new manager at MU looks pretty disinterested to me and doesn't look as though he can be bothered to knuckle down and sort their problems out. We will see if he looks any more interested shortly.

Some of their problems are above his head, the place is run like a circus. Not surprising they have a lot of quality wanting out and they're having to pay way over the odds for inferior players.

They bring a manager in, give them all the control to dismantle and rebuild the squad with the medium to long term in mind, then get shot when it's not working out. Amorim doesn't have to deal with integrating the current players into how he wants to play, because he can just get shot of them as a short term win for him.

They chop and change above the manager too with directors of football coming and going. Last couple of seasons they were all about up and coming young players, paying a premium for potential, now they're back to wanting Premier League experience, paying a premium for that experience.

Until they get everyone working together on the footballing direction side of it nothing will change for them.

He offered to walk during and at the end of last season. If I was a Utd fan or player I’d think that very telling. If he hadn’t offered to go then a few players not getting much game time May think it best to move on this summer. I expect them to now hang on and see what the next feller makes of them.
