Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

Think the 2 year left on his contract and that we’ve lodged a firm offer might cause to club to cave in. Time will tell. But the lad’s character seems to be questionable.

He looking like a no from me now, move on and find someone with better attitude.

Signing like Xhaka should mean we attract ambitious player who want to play for the club (we wish..).
Just because it's being played out half in public doesn't mean it's any different to anyone else in a similar situation where you hear nothing until the deal is done. We're still seen as a risk to some players, understandably.

I'd say if it comes down to the player's contract terms I can't see Bologna being able to offer him anything near what we could.

"Questionable character" because he wants to see his options before signing for anyone? Or in what way?

Yes, doesn’t matter if a player is really talented if he thinks he is too good for the place. We have seen players before firing on no cylinders, and we don’t want a repeat of it.

If you believe the source at all, it also says he's keen to protect his place in the Colombia squad for the WC, hence wanting to make the right choice. Sounds sensible to me to think these things through, and surely that alone is enough to know he's going to be motivated wherever he plays.

Jhon Lucumí's entourage is studying all options

So far, Bologna hasn't received a positive response from the Colombian defender's entourage. Sunderland is the club pushing hardest to sign him in this transfer window. The English club has reportedly made an offer of €20 million and is willing to raise it if Bologna rejects it.

Bologna is willing to make him a €2 million contract extension offer. Sunderland is also pushing, and Lucumí is currently analyzing the deal. These will be key days for either deal to be completed. The defender knows it's crucial to make the right decision because the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada is coming up, and although he's a regular in Néstor Lorenzo's starting XI, the player doesn't want to give away any advantage.

Sounds more promising

Seems like a straight forward decision, stay where he is or join us. I think money will talk and the chance to get himself in the premier league will be a big pull.

Can’t see how playing prem will harm his chances for national side, when Xhaka has made same calculation for Swiss national squad.

Sounds like he wants his move away and we’re the only solid offer.

Ofc we only see a fraction of want goes on - maybe it’s all genuine stuff.

Just like to see us fill a CB position asap, but these things take time..

As long as he voluntarily chooses us he will no doubt be motivated, just don’t want a reluctant signing.
