Sheff Wed - financial issues

Wednesday will have to go into administration & finish up relegated, then I think someone will take them over, hopefully for them its someone with the clubs best interests & not another asset stripper.

But they are well & truly screwed until this happens

Said that earlier; they needed 2025-26 ST money to keep the club going, I can see a Coventry senario where they are locked out Hillsborough & finish up playing at Doncaster, Barnsley or Rotherham
Or back to Bramall Lane.
Only joking.

The club don’t own the stadium I believe Chansiri does under a different company name

I can’t see anyone buying them until they are in administration, they are doomed to relegation before a ball is kicked , there’s just no value in buying the club right now

If they fail to fulfill several fixtures due to lack of players it could be fatal for the club.
I hope not.

Our owner, once given the findings from a first estimate with recommendations regards repairs and safety issues, then proceeded to get a second opinion from a company in Thailand that basically said everything was fine with the North stand, even though said company never visited the ground.

Nowt dodgy at all.
absolutely ridiculous that mind

If Sheffield Wednesday go to the wall, their owner having miraculously passed the fit and proper test, there will be a bit more bother than the Bury debacle.
They have nothing a prospective owner would be interested in baring a largish fan base

Stadium is falling apart , training ground sub standard , transfer embargo , no squad so to speak of. It’s really looking bleak for them

It would be a nice gesture for clubs like us to loan them one or two for nothing, if they do end up in administration, just for the sake of the fans. Apart from the obvious (Poveda) they can have a few of the kids for next season probably.

Not sure if I read this or it didn’t happen but thinking that this happened after the Munich air disaster teams loaned players.
Don’t think it’s possible in this scenario as who would pay the players as the owners won’t.

Well I imagine we would have to pay them (which is often what happens with PL teams loaning to lower leagues, though often it is shared) but at least they'd be getting games at a decent level. Risk would be everything being an utter shambles off the pitch I guess.

I think you're right about Munich. Similar after the Superga disaster too with Torino, with other teams in Serie A asked to 'donate' them a player each.

The owner is an oddball. Sat near him when we played them on the last game of the 23/24 season. They won to stay up and he looked absolutely gutted and didn't crack a smile.

We have, for now membership to the EFL, that's our main asset.

Along with gorgeous Barry Bannan of course!

It's a horrendous feeling for any football fan to be going into a new season with zero hope, and potentially no more club.

We've been through some shite over the years, and despite the rubbish we have had to endure, there was always that element of hope, no matter how small.

Really hope they get sorted out

Mate I think yous need to be thinking of the phoenix club soon. Would you involve yourself?

Not thought that far ahead to be honest.

I just can't help thinking that someone or something will buy us eventually, I mean surely we can't go to the wall......right?

A club like Wednesday should never be going through this. Hoodwinked by an absolute chancer has had disastrous consequences..
