Robin Roefs 🇳🇱 compendium

he shouldn't like

as brilliant as he was in the playoff final he's a an average to above average championship keeper. nothing exceptional and i don't believe he's getting any better. seems to have just stagnated at his current level. that might be because he's had zero real threat to his position for a while now. if he stays this might give him the kick up the arse he needs to push on

this lad isn't coming in to sit on the bench though given the options he seemingly had

It is a fair point that all of our reserve keepers since Patto became first choice have been utter pony.

Might be well wide of the mark here but I had a strong sense that Patto didn’t want to be at the club last season. Never really seemed to be engaged although he did his job pretty well. Especially in the final.
What makes you say that? He’s always looked quiet & an introvert on the pitch. Where else would the Sunderland supporter who’s grew up playing for the club rather be whilst he’s no.1 in a promotion push?

Lille wanted him to replace their current GK that is going to PSG for €40m, their last GK that left went to AC Milan. Lille know how to spot a good GK and Ghisolfi swooped. 😎
Not sure how far into him they were. The bottom Lequipe says that Kinsky was their priority. Sounds like they were interested but not sure that they were prioritising or negotiating for him

Not sure that's quite right. They were looking at a few keepers, but I haven't seen anything to suggest they were targeting Roefs above and beyond the others. Or that they were close to getting him

Did he not have his medical today? Your message says yesterday
Yeah I got another message saying his mate was assuming it was yesterday but likely was preparing for it today

Keef from SSN tweeted this at 10.43am today

EXCL: Robin Roefs is currently undergoing his Sunderland medical. The Dutch keeper has agreed a 5-year deal, with paying NEC £11.5m package inclusive of add-ons. Expect this deal to be announced within the next 24 hours, pending medical pass.

Like I say, I could be well wide of the mark. I got the impression he didn’t look content and wasn’t taking part in acknowledging supporters after the games.
Could well be that he’s just introvert.
I’m not sure how passionate a lads fan he was growing up so he may not be that bothered who he is playing for.
Not dissing the lad here, he did what he needed to do last season and overall he played his part to get us up.
Like I say, it was just the feeling I had.

Not worth what we paid, but we will see, could have got Hendo on a free.

And this guy?
There's absolutely no solid evidence that we ever were after Henderson or if he even wanted to come back. We need experience either way so we got Xhaka. If you want experience in the Prem you have to pay for it.

I don't know much about this new keeper other than his stats and from that, he's better than Patto at commanding the box and seemingly wins more crosses. Im sure those in charge will have looked at that more than we can using Google.

There was a thread on here about him not talking to fans.

Mine have spoken to him loads of times and had autographs and pictures with him. That's at the SoL and Eppleton.
He's a nice lad, quiet and unassuming.

Here's the thread at the time.

You are well wide of the mark here. I know this for a fact.
