Robin Roefs 🇳🇱 compendium

Pleased with the signing, it fits the model but Patto should start as first choice.

he shouldn't like

as brilliant as he was in the playoff final he's a an average to above average championship keeper. nothing exceptional and i don't believe he's getting any better. seems to have just stagnated at his current level. that might be because he's had zero real threat to his position for a while now. if he stays this might give him the kick up the arse he needs to push on

this lad isn't coming in to sit on the bench though given the options he seemingly had

Difference is two keepers who will both expect to be number 1. An improvement in the keeping department by a distance. Moore came knowing he would never ever be number 1.

It seems a really solid signing.

Aye, fair point
I'm genuinely watching it thinking "why the heck are we signing a keeper?"

The save in the first minute of the final is both the most important and the best save by a Sunderland keeper for a generation. Astonishing save.

I don’t know, I’ve never seen him play before. I was responding to the other posters interpretation of his and pattos stats
I never said he was a worse passer, just that he lad less completed passes per game in his stats. Like I said, could just be a tactical thing. Maybe he was instructed to boot the ball out of play when pressured rather than pass it around the back at Nijmegen.

Way better on crosses. Someone posted a comparison of his stats to Patterson's earlier and he was way ahead on crosses intercepted and saves made, but slightly behind in kick distance and passes made, which tbf can just be a tactical difference between the teams.
Well if his kick distance isn’t as far that might mean they won’t go sailing over people’s heads and out of play.

Unless he wants away I can’t see it. This will be a real challenge for the number one shirt which I think is very healthy for both players.
Might be well wide of the mark here but I had a strong sense that Patto didn’t want to be at the club last season. Never really seemed to be engaged although he did his job pretty well. Especially in the final.

Suppose Xhaka is a waste of money too, eh?
Oh aye he will be undoubtedly mate. Unlike Ramsdale who by his own admission can’t concentrate for 90 mins. There is a belter on YT when Mr Relegation was at Sheff Utd and a bird of the feathered variety landed inside the penalty area and distracted him whilst the opposition attacked and scored but aye we’ve spunked money up the wall.

Lille wanted him to replace their current GK that is going to PSG for €40m, their last GK that left went to AC Milan. Lille know how to spot a good GK and Ghisolfi swooped. 😎
