I’d prefer this than Johnstone tbh. I want to see patto take on the challenge too and show us what he’s got.
 
Position needed strengthening and stats from last season look good. It’s often thought that experienced keepers would be a safer choice but it’s not the Sunderland way. A keeper in his early 20’s with experience in a top league seems to be 10-15m more expensive so hopefully we’ve picked him up at the right time and he can step right in.

Would you feel differently about this signing if we were paying £20m+

Who knows, this lad was probably on our shortlist from the outset, but we chose to target Bulka/Petrovic first
