Sheff Wed - financial issues

Many foreign investors want to buy a big English club with history and a fanbase.

With the investment and good recruitment there is potential. Why did the Americans buy Brum city?
Good point about Birmingham. I really hope they do get someone that goes in and saves them, I just can't see it personally.

They're currently not allowed to spend a penny on transfers until January 2027. I reckon they're in for a properly shit time.

Always hoping a fan or consortium with Sheffield blood can take it up.
On the other hand you always think why now.
Like Sunderland, Wednesday are a big Club and big Clubs never die.
I really hope they pull out of this.
At least with us you were getting a 49k seater stadium with a fantastic academy/training facilities. I genuinely don't see any positive to buying them. I read Owlstalk daily and even plenty of their own are asking the question of, why on earth would anyone buy them?

To be honest Mate why would anyone half sensible buy a football club.
Most of the issues though are caused through clubs living beyond their financial means. So many, like ours are bought for an ego trip.

It’s the 2 lads @Visiting owl and @wednesday1957 i feel gutted for.
So close to home. When it’s only the loyalty and social card you are playing it’s bloody tough and depressing.

That is the problem Mate he is not disliked by so many.
Still lorded as the bloke who saved the club when infact he was gifted it by the legal outcome. Real sad our fanbase is so split.
Just cannot wait for the day when the Club reunites once more and we will start the slow journey forward.
Taking over 2,000 to Walsall Saturday and that is the Holloway factor.

Sure always a risk with any new owner but more than ready to take yet another spin of the wheel in the hope that we finally land a half decent one after 10 years of falling behind. It will feel like a promotion, an early season lift and bursting inside to get my love back for the club.

Then this is Swindon and only needs another monumental disaster.
I see where you're coming from there, but now it's a case of trying to forget the past and hope that IH can continue with recent form. It won't be easy because the rest of the division have an idea of the standards Olly has set so expect a different outlook from teams you're playing.

But don't expect the expected-disaster, hope for what's happened with SAFC after what they've been put through. It CAN happen!

New season: New belief & hope. If Mr H can succeed in doing what he wants enjoy the journey!

All the clubs that struggle like this are proper football clubs with proper fans, Morecombe, Bury, Scunthorpe, Swindon etc. the size of the club is irrelevant imho, i feel for them all, it’s a truly terrible thing when the team you love is heading for oblivion.
I have shared my views on the Sheff Wed fans on this board before, brought up with them and dislike them profusely, the lads that post on here (@Visiting owl @wednesday1957) seem solid though so not all as i experienced in my younger days.
None of that changes how sorry i am that their club is being ruined, it's a crying shame for all fans of all clubs big and small that have to go through this, i hope things turn around lads, you never know the players you have left may go out to prove a point this season, it isn’t over until it’s over, good luck with it, you deserve better.

Our owner, once given the findings from a first estimate with recommendations regards repairs and safety issues, then proceeded to get a second opinion from a company in Thailand that basically said everything was fine with the North stand, even though said company never visited the ground.

Nowt dodgy at all.
Aye sounds a right prick, Corrupt.

The football ombudsman needs to have teeth to remove these shitty owners. The blood is on the FAs(again)hands and they should be ashamed.

Not the ground to be taking liberties with the safety of supporters like. Hope it doesn’t end badly

Was reading in the Sheffield Star a couple of months back that they started selling the season tickets around Christmas for this coming season.
Must've needed the money just to keep afloat.😔

Wednesday will have to go into administration & finish up relegated, then I think someone will take them over, hopefully for them its someone with the clubs best interests & not another asset stripper.

But they are well & truly screwed until this happens

Said that earlier; they needed 2025-26 ST money to keep the club going, I can see a Coventry senario where they are locked out Hillsborough & finish up playing at Doncaster, Barnsley or Rotherham
