Durham vs Surrey - CC Match Thread

Apparently it's meant to c*nt it down (Wednesday i think)

Rey senior is up for the 4 days (sadly I couldn't get the time off work), so if you see a very rotund, slightly tanned, balding elderly fellow with a loud gob, give him some verbals for us 😄

There are three blokes who fit that description sitting in front of some Surrey flags although I’m not sure of the balding part as they are wearing caps 😉

NORTH OUT!
Not sure why North gets so much heat on here when the fault clearly lies with the player’s application and / or tactics. You cantblame him that Gay ( for example) is dire one innings then scores 100 next ( eg at Surrey )……..unless he sets the tone for the “culture” at the club ?

I agree on the posts above about attacking cricket. This has completely disappeared. Was ever present in the title winning season and last season.

North is the Director of cricket i.e. His mandate is the overall direction that cricket takes across the club. The club is spiralling downwards at both senior and junior levels. North is responsible for playing and coaching appointment at all levels. The buck stops at North.

I think the main issue is the bowling and as always in cricket if there's problems in the bowling it puts pressure on the batting and vice versa.

This season I think we've only got one full time bowler, that being Raine and I've always thought of him being first change rather than a strike bowler. Potts should be doing a better jobs, but he's keeps on getting dragged away by England and I don't think that helps. The rest are too young or injured and too young or 'visitors'.

No Beddingham has hurt us too.

Remember back in 2023 and to a certain extent last season when we won praise for playing attacking cricket and following England’s example? What’s happened to that?
