Craft Beer

Sonoma on in Blues. Remains the best lower end abv beer about . Great how they've packed so much juiciness and flavour into it at that %.

Rehills continues its slow decline. Not fell off a cliff or anything but theyre certainly not as good under the new ownership.
Was on the cards sadly. Re cans. I mainly just pick up a couple of take homes when I'm in pubs/bars these days in the main.

On the cans point, it's only recently I've started getting the odd can on the go when in the pubs to consume there and then. For ages now I've just stuck to what's on keg or cask. Daft really as some cans about are tremendous.

I’m the same. I only drink the cask and keg and find it a bit weird seeing people drinking cans in a pub.

Pop in rehills or do a build a box with Trembling Madness or Hops at Home when I need to stock up or see summat I really fancy. Dead handy, just buy a few at a time so get stuff i really want rather than feel like I'm buying stuff just to hit the free delivery line.

Most bars that I go in that have decent cans have enough on the cask or keg lines to keep me happy. Main pub cans woukd be if I want an AF.

Popped in a couple of months ago & stocked up on a few Jakeheads. But my drinking has changed back to pre-covid now. Only time I drink in the house now is if people come round. The odd can before I go out or get in.

Only impys I remember having this year are a half of Wear Beer in the Isis & one in a craft bar in Athens.

Can’t think when I’ll drink my stash in the house now unless I’m watching us on a Friday night match or something.

If im not out on a weekend night I may have 2-3 cans in the house, but its mostly decent stuff so I still keep a canny stash topped up as never know what I'll fancy.
Whilst the missus often gets us on the wine she is also a fellow crafty so quite often now if the cans come out we will share.

Had a jaunt down Plymouth and one of the craft places had some really good kegs
stuff but the vast majority were getting stuck into the cans. That's what got me thinking how I'd stopped doing that. As others have said, usually plenty enough to not need to go to the cans but if there's a one that catches my eye I've recently started to indulge a little.

Trembling Madness is superb for canage.

Good point re AF.

On the train now heading north to Newcastle ready for the match tomorrow. Anyone recommend anywhere I can get to from central station (don't mind a walk)? My priority is cask.

I'm heading to Riley's in Tynemouth so tempted just to do some metro pubs. Maybe Duck and Rabbit in Whitley Bay. I know the Free Trade gets a lot of love but I've not found their cask to be in great condition. Equally, my dad recommended the Lady Jane Grey but found their cask to lack condition. Town Mouse?

Newcastle Tap is over the road & Beer St is behind Central Station. Nearer Haymarket you’ve got Mean Eyed Cat & Town Mouse.

Down on the Quayside there’s a BrewDog who usually have decent guest beer on & Newcastle Arms is around the corner.

Town Mouse is good for cask. Beer Street right next to the station is worth a go.

I'm also heading back today. Buzzing to get into the Bridge Hotel Vaults for the first time as well.

Town Mouse
Mean Eyed Cat
Wobbly Duck
Lady Greys

Closer to station

Gunner Tavern
Town Wall
Head of Steam

Mosaic Tap and Beer Street have good beers on, but maybe not the best for you if you want cask
