Is Trai Hume good enough for the Prem?

My favourite player. He isn’t someone we need to urgently replace now, but if we have ambitions of mid table and above I fear he won’t be good enough. Which is a shame.

Personally think Hume is one of a few players who will kick on and become even better in the prem

Nothing to back it up just a good feeling.

Think he’s sometimes too keen to whack a reckless tackle in to get the fan applause. Gets away with it in the championship but PL players may be too quick for him (in mind and body) - see vs Joel Linton for the 1st goal in the FA Cup game

He is good but might have an issue with pace, if Huggins is fit he’ll probably give him some competition

He’s not slow. He’s shifty for a full back.

95% of full-backs are slower than the person they mark. They just have to adapt and we have to play a fairly low block anyway imo, to help the centre backs and midfield.

Question for me is more his temperament. I think he can step up personally.

I do worry he'll get done for pace a lot in the Prem like. I'd be more comfortable with an upgrade at RB but it's not the highest priority I suppose.
You're right. Of the normal starting 11 last season he'd be down the list of who we upgrade first.

We'll find out!

You can't say for sure either way, but it would be a mistake to go into the season with Huggins as the only alternative right back.

Yes. But he will need to adapt to the lower level of accepted tackling in this league. He won't get away with some of what he did last season.

I don't think there's a single player from last season that I'd confidently say is a premier league player. That's not to slate the lads who got us there, it's just the gulf is so big. I'd say there are a few I don't mind having in the squad and can contribute across the season and perhaps develop enough to stay there. Hume would be one of those.

It will be a learning curve for them and maybe a bit of an eye opener at first but they need to see if they can adapt and step up their game. We have a lot of young players who have not hit their ceilings yet, so I wouldn't write any of them off. Hume is still young himself. Maybe he will struggle at first, but there's no reason why he can't develop into a good Premier League fullback.
