Does Charis Mavrias' folks still have the bar in town?
They did last summer with plenty of his old Sunderland shirts on the walls.
Paradise Bar was the furthest we went down that end of town. We'll go back to Tsilivi but doing Kefalonia next year then hopefully Skiathos in 27, ticks off another 2 islands for me.
First time in Greece for almost 20 years and got the bug again so at least one of our holidays each year will be Geeece I think.

We ate in a nice place called The Halfway House last August in Tsvili. I know it sounds like a pub in England but it was a quite fancy restaurant. Bait tremendous and I don’t remember the prices being bad. We were staying in Argassi but had mates over in Tsvili so spent the day up there visiting them.

Theyve gone very upmarket the last few years but they're cracking lads.
Decided i looked like Kostas Mitroglu which im still offended by but they were all sound as owt. Went several nights over several holidays.
think weve been to Tsilivi about 8 times now
Which bar is the mavrias one, for next year when we no doubt book up

Just sorting our itinerary for crete in September, I'm out for 25 days . My mate goes out in august, two of us join him . 1 goes home after a week ,then another lad comes out for 2 weeks . Travelling about the island

Noticed last year its getting very busy and more cosmopolitan..paid 30 euros for 2 drinks on the steps bar,just under Lo & La.
Place being spoilt.

We just got back from Skiathos a couple of weeks back, our first ever time in Greece. Fantastic place, loved it. We got informed by TUI a week before we flew that our hotel in Troulos had overbooked so we got moved to Koukounaries but it was never an issue. Still in a nice place, with a bus stop outside, the water taxi (bloody speedboat!) to town round the corner and loads of tavernas and bars around too.

Off to Sifnos in September. Small island, getting there by ferry from Athens. Doesn’t look like loads to do there apart from great food which is exactly what we are after

I’ve already booked up our return to Kefalonia next June which will make it four years out of five.
We went in there last year - prices were manageable if you caught 'Happy Hour', after that they were ridiculous.
One night, late on, we asked for two large and two small beers (the lasses didn't fancy another cocktail). Got told that they only serve one size of beer - 400ml - so got four of them. €32.
In saying that, we loved Skiathos Town and will definitely go back - just won't be buying any drinks in that bar outside of 'Happy Hour'.

Skyros offers great value for food, with high-quality meals made from local products. There’s easy parking in the main town (Chora), beautiful beaches, and plenty of interesting sights without the crowds. The island remains untouched by mass tourism and overdevelopment, preserving its authentic character. Interestingly, half of the island is covered in pine forest, while the other half is made up of rocky hills and wild thyme — a unique landscape you don’t often see.
It is also a clean and well-kept island. You can comfortably explore it in about six days by car. During my visit, I noticed that most visitors were Greek, with very few tourists from abroad, which really adds to the local charm. The island is also home to the grave of the English poet Rupert Brooke, a historical spot worth visiting. It is ideal for families, offering a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. You can reach the island by ferry from Kymi, in Evia.
I stayed for five days with my own car, and overall, it was a really enjoyable experience!
Although geographically part of the Sporades, Skyros has the look and feel of a Cycladic island if you could lift it out of the Sporades and place it in the Cyclades, it would fit right in.
It is also a clean and well-kept island. You can comfortably explore it in about six days by car. During my visit, I noticed that most visitors were Greek, with very few tourists from abroad, which really adds to the local charm.
