Durham to be Relegated

Raymondo

Central Defender
Looks a very real possibility now. Do you think it’s going to happen?

Hopefully the lads at next weeks meeting put some pressure on top brass regarding the format for next year and the performance (what performance?!) of this team.

It's a possibility but no need to panic yet. Worcestershire are still roughly 2 wins away from catching us up, Essex not far off the same and Hampshire are getting pasted all over by Notts batters so far. We need to improve definitely, but so do the others below us.

Looking at the remaining CC fixtures we have Surrey (h), Essex (a), Worcs (h) and Yorkshire (a). I can't see us winning the Surrey or Essex games so it's all going to come down to those last two.

You just know Essex will produce a pitch that massively suits them. Possibly a bunsen, possibly a green top - I wouldn’t fancy having to deal with Harmer/Critchley or Cook/Porter if conditions are in their favour.
Worcestershire and Essex are both going to win. Surrey may be able to restrict Yorkshire to a draw.

A home team preparing a pitch to suit them I'm shocked

Had we brought our spinners on earlier in their 1st innings i.e before they were within 60 of our total we might well have won this game.Hindsight a wonderful thing.
After this round of games the table will show that we're in a real relegation issue. Either in the bottom two or only a few points clear of it.

I don't think we'll be relegated. However there is concern with the league placing. What concerns me more is the recruitment by Marcus North and the injuries to our bowlers, it indicates issues with whatever fitness programmes they're on.
All summer, we have a minimum of one seamer plus an all rounder on secondment to Eng-er-lund. We currently have another seamer that got broken playing for them.

It's almost like Durham need to produce twice as many seamers as every other county, just to provide staff for the Eng-er-lund team to break, for an ECB that couldn't give a shiny shit about our county.

There is something seriously amiss this season and you only have to attend one of the CC games to see the body language, to see how quiet it is on the field when we are bowling and worst of all - the feeling that they look as if they don't believe they are going to win.

This has been one of the most disappointing seasons I can ever recall and believe me I've seen a few of them since 1992.

Yes I do. Been absolutely dog shit all season in the red ball format. I was at Notts for the first game and we were miles off it right from the start. And to think we were tipped to challenge Surrey.

Poor recruitment. Gay and Rhodes have been average at best. Seem to have selected about a million different bowlers and none of them have shone. Even the usually reliable Potts has been poor.

Really not sure what is going on but it’s nowhere near good enough. North needs sacking but some of the players need to get their heads out of their arses. Ackermann wants shot with shit for his “efforts” against Somerset.

Reminiscent of the Franklin era. Becoming patently obvious that he was only half of the problem.

Yorkshire fan here. Durham are miles better than us and Worcestershire and probably Essex. All those 3 will finish below Durham. However, with the proposed CC reduction how many are going down? It could be 2, 3 or 4 with 2, 1 or 0 coming up, if It ends up with 3 groups of 6. Even if they stick to 14 matches it will be changed to 8 in Division One and 10 in Division Two so that could be 3 down and 1 up. It could be no-one gets relegated if they go for a top Division of 12.
