Farhan Ahmed

Took 5-25 in the Blast Notts Vs Lancs tonight including a hat trick. Not bad for a 17 year old off spinner. Very repeatable action with a lot of turn.

Was a spin friendly pitch TBF and Lancs are already through to the QF.

Youngest player to take a 10for in the CC at 16. Played in the U19 WC for England when he was 15. Handy with the bat and field.

One for the future or start blooding him in the white ball stuff now?

P.s needs to sort that barnet out. The bowl cut is not very flattering.

Before a ball had even been bowled this season. I had talked him up getting taken to Australia. Absolutely streets ahead of his brother Rehan and Bashir before they got their caps.

He's not quite kicked on in the CC as I'd hoped but the pitches have been awful with the Kookaburra adding to bowlers woes. Him adding to his reputation by doing well in white ball is only a positive thing for England.

Really excited to see what his career will be like. Bag loads of talent in the Ahmed household like.

Exciting times as there is a wealth of young talent emerging.

As well as Farhan there is Tazeem Ali at Warwickshire, Charlie Barnard at Lancashire, Archie Vaughan at Somerset and Rehan at Leicestershire who is still only 20.

I think Farhan and Tazeem are both the most likely to make it. I've still been really impressed by Rehan when I've seen him bowl this season though. His batting has come along massively this year as well.

Aye, quite the cricketing household. I'm sure the Ahmed's have an older brother who was on Notts books at one stage. Their dad was an all rounder back in Pakistan too. Wouldn't be surprised if their mam bowls too.

There's been a trend of cricketing families over the years. The Curran brothers come to mind, Waugh twins, McCullum's. There must be loads.

Tazeem Ali, the leggie from Warks? I haven't seen much of him tbh, only bits and pieces for the Lions here and there. Him and Archie Vaughan have both impressed. Archie with the bat as well.

Rehan's batting hasn't half come on. Scored 3 centuries for Leics up the order irrc and at a good lick.

Future is bright spinwise, I agree. We just need some good wickets to encourage their teams to bowl them more in the 4day stuff.

Thats true. The Flower brothers from Zimbabwe and the Hollioake brothers as well come to mind.

Yes, also would love to see them all getting more bowling time although reducing the number of CC games is hardly going to help.

The goofy Akmal brothers for Pakistan, Pathan's for India. There's been quite a few....

Aye, that's true. Although I will say pitches and weather play a big part too.

We've got the Rew brothers too doing their thing in County and England U19s respectively.

As far as sons or relatives of Test Cricketers/CC cricketers of recent past. You can name a young english XI of players currently playing first and second team cricket in the CC.

Jaydn Denly (Nephew of Joe)
Joshua De Caires (Son of Athers)
Archie Vaughan (Son of Twat)
James Sales (Son of David)
Rocky Flintoff (Son of Freddie)
Isaac Mohammed (Nephew of Moeen)
Haydon Mustard (Son of Phil)
Luc Benkenstein (Son of Dale)
Mitch Killeen (Son of Neil)
Corey Flintoff (Son of Freddie)
Charlie Harmison (Son of Steve)

Wow that's quite the list that. Flintoff has 2 boys playing cricket? Impressive.

I'm trying to work out who Farhan bowls like. It's a very unique action. Looks a bit like Nathan Lyon. Which wouldn't be surprising, said he looked up to him growing up.
Aye, Lyon, Swann perhaps

He has the body rotation which is allowing him to generate good spin at a decent pace. Reasonably accurate as well.

They need to get some of these young lads playing in the subcontinent. I seem to remember Borthwick spending a winter in Sri Lanka.

Aye I was going to say he has a bit of Swann's skip too. Yep he's definitely got some explosiveness at the crease. Uses his whole body to generate that pace and like you said he is fairly accurate which his economy rate testifies.

He has bowled some big spells for Notts too, which bodes well. He bowled 50-60 overs in that innings he took 10for for example.

Yep, getting some experience on dust bowls on the subcontinent is vital. Although if Asian cricketing parents are anything to go by. I'm sure his dad will have had him in plenty of camps over there in Pakistan. Getting into India might be a bit more tricky

400 or so runs at the Roses T20 I went to last Friday and Chohan was the only bowler who seemed to have any kind of control.

Rehan's batting seems to improving at a much quicker rate than his bowling.

Aye totally forgot about Jafer Chohan. He's definitely in the mix, plus at 23 he will have more experience than the lads that's been mentioned on here.

Yep, apparently Rehan was always a batting all rounder so no surprise there. Add to the fact he's hardly bowled this season and batted up the order.

Been keeping an eye on the England U19s against India U19s recently and Rew looks head and shoulders above every other English batsman.
