Forthcoming gigs.

'kin hell, Martha and Cheekface was a warm one. The collective sweat left a thin layer of moisture on the floor, which made it slippy 🤢

The Grove's bar is still infuriatingly slow, the clientele at the front of the stage left gaps, meaning everyone at the back was squished, and had a load of people stood on the steps. Anyway...

Martha were great, short set but played the hits (and came out to Ready To Go 🔴⚪)

Cheekface were okay (B52s / Talking Heads / Parquet Courts / Bug Club / abracadabra). Monotone in voice, yet sweet, upbeat in sound. A lot of that American "I want to be your friend" energy.

Really wanted to go to that but was working. Is he doing any more gigs?

He should, especially if he wants to sell some more copies of the album. He's got his own venue so there's nowt to stop him!

It worked brilliantly with the brass band but there's little of that on the album so a small combo backing him would suffice, I think.

I've gone right off that venue. Great potential but seems really poorly managed, from the venue to the main room itself. I was one of the people stood at the top of the steps - I'm a big unit and don't like plonking myself in the middle and blocking a dozen people's views but I couldn't see any space along the walls or at the back and in the end I got fed up and went and sat outside and listened through the wall. Not what I paid for. If they want to cram 350 people in they should have someone making sure people at the front are aware of what's behind them and getting them to shuffle forward a bit.

Even the big screen football in the courtyard, showing the womens' game, had no sound on, even after the bands had finished.
Should have said: Great potential but seems really poorly managed, from the bar to the main room itself.

ridiculous to have martha on first, so crammed in nobody was moving at the back so i walked into a wall once in the main doors, far too sweaty so went and sat in the garden and there were quite a few glum looing people clearly in the same situation. then when cheekface came on the place emptied and it has half full from the middle of the room and going backwards kind of empty.
