Club Statement: ECB Domestic Structure

It's all smoke and mirrors.

These proposals are a con to get the 16.4 as the main domestic competition of the future with the rest of the domestic programme moved to the margins.

They are so pissed off at how T20 took off in India but not here that they are desperate to make this new format England's showpiece cricket tournament.

Every sensible cricket fan can see what's happening but we are considered "luddites"

Those in charge at the ECB have sold these franchises for 30 pieces of silver offering the carrot that the counties will make big money from this.

That money won't last forever. Then what? Those in charge at present won't care. They'll have fucked off to their retirement villas by then.

Everything must be done to stop this happening. DONT LET THE ECB RUIN CRICKET.

The Hundred sale has all gone quiet and still hasn't been signed off. Auction was in February and all would be finalised by end of April we were told. Mid-July and still not signed off.
Disagreement is over share of tv rights which in this country is the major revenue for the Hundred. Hand them over to the Franchise and the only revenue is test tv and gate receipts. With average annual turnover for each county circa £10m, that promised £27m covers 3 years. And that £27m is looking very tenuous at present.
Yet we've still got posters on here championing the Hundred.

Just done a bit of number crunching. This year Durham will play 36 matches in 3 competitions across 78 days. If Durham were to reach the final of the T20 Blast and the final of the One Day Cup, that would then equate to 42 games across in 83 days.

Should Durham’s new model were to be introduced in 2026, Durham would play 32 matches in 3 competitions across 68 days (provided the One Day Cup is still in August and has 8 group games). If Durham were able to reach the final of the County Championship, T20 Blast and One Day Cup, that would then equate to 39 games in 78 days of cricket.

2025 will be my first and last season as a member if this goes ahead.

I laughed when I read..........

which found that 83% of players think the current schedule "harms physical wellbeing", 72% saying it "hinders high performance", and over two-thirds claiming mental health is affected by the intensity'.

......well go and get another job then. Playing a game for a living is a piece of piss. Try actual work for a change.
When they refer to speaking to members, do they just mean conversations they can make up in their head  I agree with the blast changes mind, similar to MLB
To be fair, they didn't explicitly state Durham Cricket members. Maybe they meant Tesco Clubcard Members.

As far as I can remember Jesus stopped watching Durham around about 2001 when they introduced names and numbers on the shirts.:D
Yes,I remember him well. So many characters around in those early years.
Apparently 'The current structure produces a plethora of games in both Divisions that do not have any meaning'. Mr Bostock, show me your workings out please.

(I'm going to attend the meeting and address him as Mr Bostik for my own childish amusement)
Introducing yourself as Mr Luddite.

No point in addressing the Almighty. He doesn't post on here :)
If the mods think a post is potentially libellous, they're delete it.
All I said was those at the top of DCCC have neither Durham or crickets best interests at heart. Hardly libellous- in fact, it's f***ing obvious to anyone with a quarter of a brain!
