England v India - Third Test, 10/07

Sometimes the rey making comments like only he understands the "nuances" of cricket on here could bug me.
But then I realise people spouting propaganda for the like of trump and Putin are far worse.
Don't sweat the small stuff, the threads here are sweet compared to the match threads on pure football 🤣
If someone is really getting under your skin then block.

Rather you didn't block me though, I enjoy your posts here, I even enjoy the posts of the SOGBC (Sons of Geoffrey boycott club) 😉
.
.
Note to the above, tomorrow is why we love test cricket.
1) we dismantle them in 20 overs
2) they win without another wicket lost
3) they are 9 wickets down with 10 runs to win.

Haway the thriller
Best sport in the world when a test match goes into day 5 with all results possible (well not the draw, but the tie is on)

Hope they both take their time today
India score at 1 an over and lose 4 wickets by 3pm. Then I'll be home from work to watch the end 🤣

It’s another one of many fantastic days cricket coming up that this regime produces time and time again.

This team continues to be a brilliant watch

Even though apparently’ they don’t play properly’ ;)
You do yourself absolutely no favours with stuff like this mind. It shows there's absolutely zero balance in your views to the point of it being totally pointless to debate anything with you.

The bowlers stepped up right at the end of the day to try and sort out the mess that the batsman got the team on because of the bordering on crazy mentality that the batsman had throughout the day. Duckett, Crawley, Brook, Root and Stokes all out with really poor shots.

Some of the batsmen being picked aren't particularly capable of hanging about, and its a skill in itself to be able to resist taking shots on. Yes there were some poor shots but that's never mentioned when the opposition players decide to leave and get rattled on the pads. That's then great bowling.

I think what is sometimes overlooked with this current team, is how many times they win games from difficult positions - the first test being an example.

It is seen as exciting and revolutionary to some, and you can't play down the achievement of knocking off 370 on the final day, but you also have to ask why do they find themselves in those positions so often? This England side can win a game from almost anywhere but they rarely dominate a test and win easy like the great sides of yesteryear.

They tend to be good front runners and adept at chasing a large final day total which does give the vibe (LOL) that they might just be a better team when the pressure is off.

You can look at it both ways, but they often dig themselves holes like yesterday through sheer poor thinking but find a way back into the game through spirit. The reality is though that they are an inconsistent team with some great players (Root, Brook, Stokes) carrying some poor players (Crawley, Bashir) and until they flex their approach a bit, they will continue on the same path.

Certainly played properly in that 1st innings playing the bowling on merit but the general consensus appears to be that there were many dismissals in the 2nd innings caused by players exercising the sweep shot poorly. That's the thinking that leads to " they don't play properly " interpretation apparently, I presume.
Enthralling days cricket ahead whichever way it goes. Be nice if we could focus solely on that without the petulant and wholly unnecessary side swiping.

Be interesting to see who opens up today. Has to be Carse and Archer or even Stokes. I've lost all confidence in Woakes being able to keep it tight or threatening to take a wicket.

Have to bend out backs today. 90mph bowling please. Shows you how bad Bashir is, he's not in the conversation really. 5th day pitch and the spinner isn't going to play a pivotal part by the sounds of it.
