England v India - Third Test, 10/07

We’ve been asking questions the whole series
Not a few hacked off luddities on a message board. I mean from Sky, from serious cricketing journalists, from ex players, from the ECB themselves.

Yet again we've turned up against a top side, arrogantly thought we could dispatch them like we do with "lesser" sides, and have been outplayed for all but 2 days this series. It's pathetic, but no-one seems willing to criticise it

The England fans on this thread are immense but when you see the stuff about the Ruth Strauss foundation and when we lose loved ones through various reasons, this doesn't mean shit. means the needle in a game of cricket means nowt.
Sport is the most important of the not important things in life. We care deeply so of course we react emotionally, but I think we all know that the reality is it doesn't mean anything in our lives beyond making us happy or moody for a few days

I can see Archer causing big problems if he finds that length when it’s going up and down

Carse to replace him and rotate

Woakes has to keep it as tight as possible at the other end , worth Ben trying g to find the up and down length

There is a spin so bashir could get a couple.

It’s the runs though. 175 with 4 left

It’s still delicately poised if Woakes can hang in and Stokes can do a headingley or a lords from the past

He’s well capable
….

Last thing , if India bat today , I think they will win

Bash 5-50 and winning the match

One of the potential downsides of batting first writ large today. You usually end up having to bat third. Just as the pitch is starting to become trickier. And it’s easy if it’s close to fall into the trap of not knowing whether to stick or twist. I’m not saying Stokes made the wrong decision by any means. But I think it reinforces what I said at the time, that it’s a bit more nuanced these days then it might have been when that bloke from the 19th century people like to quote was playing. Particularly with this England team, when we know they are so much better at chasing a target than setting a target.

It’s possible

If he can chip in with a couple , might do the job. Seamers have to find the right length

They won’t find it easy either

Though it all depends on these last four wickets

We eak out another 100 and it’s a good chance to win

All out for around 200 , I don’t think we can

Be class when we’re bowled out at ten past six and the Indian openers come out with their physio and proceed to spend ten minutes getting massages before they take guard.
tbf they've took the piss with Pant and the sub keeper, that's why their faux outrage last night meant nothing. it's all silly really but an enthralling series non the less ;)
Aye if we had Anderson, Broad, Wood and Archer.
But we haven't
Cricket is a sport that plays on your mind as much as technical skill. India are superior in skill but it's how tough your grapefruits are ;)
