never seemed to be much of anything murmured that we were genuinely trying to bring him in

i find it odd if we weren't as it just seemed a no brainer but maybe we just weren't all that interested as someone would have got wind of it if there was an offer on the table

Think you’re mixing me up with someone else. I pointed out that he’s probably on similar coin in the US to his Saudi package.

I’m have a rule of thumb that if it’s in the general press it’s a bullshit story. Unless it’s a rumour from Romano it’s just not worth looking at! We’ve not signed any with early links so far.

If you are implying I’m a Saudi fan that is pathetic. I’m from Northumberland and plenty of great SAFC supporters up here.

Apparently to some on here he has lost his legs, he is only in the England squad because of his presence off the field, signs for a team who along with us could well be fighting relegation battle but the club don’t believe he would bring anything to our squad. More than sentiment, he would have been a quality signing for us. Boatloads of experience at this level and he's a leader of men, would have been our captain. His passing in last season's Europa league was better 95+ percentile, we struggled to complete passes last season.

There’s so much either irrelevant or wrong here I can’t be arsed to correct you. Our hierarchy disagree with you and that’s all that matters.

If we wanted him he’d be here, but we didn’t.
 
I wanted him to come. But when we then spent £100m on midfield players it becomes all the more unlikely.

He won't have been a cheap signing on wages and if we spend that money on a top drawer centre half then that would be a better fit for our squad currently.
