England v India - Third Test, 10/07

Hes the best pacer in all formats hands down.

But in terms of tests. Steyn peak was before I was even an adult.

So my memory of him isnt the same as Bumrah his career being in my late 20s and 30s.

Bumrah just going to keep filling up this list.

He didn't even play at test at home until 2021 and averages under 20 away overall. Averages 17 at home. His record in Australia is utterly ridiculous.

I'll be honest, when talking about the best ever. Stats only play a part of it for me. There are intangibles which are often subjective.

Bowling actions are such an intangible. Dale Steyn is probably the closest to perfection a fast bowling action can get.

I admit I might be alone in this. But Bumrah's stuttering weird action counts against him when we talk about the best ever.

What do you reckon on a potential Carse , stokes , Jof and Wood line up all fully fit

Fastest ever quartet for England in a team ?
Would be a good attack I think, Carse has really impressed me. Made of chipsticks mind

Alan Donald for bowling action for me

When these lists are mentioned you never see Malinga get a shout

Not saying he’s in the running of even top ten but he took a lot of test wickets

You could hoy Broad in on wickets taken as well
You could, easily. Wouldn’t be the greatest though, cos that’s Jimmy 👍

FWIW

My top however many in order of personal preference:
Jimmy
Walsh
Waqar
Flintoff
Simon Jones
Gough
McGrath
Hoggard
Lee
Ambrose
Harmison
Pollock
Donald
Steyn
Rabada

Just my personal favourite as stated, so don’t come at me.
