Actually I must admit I'm a touch uncomfortable with it all, that the ECB Director of Cricket can turn a day of professional international sport into a vehicle for his own personal charitable interests (dare I say hobby horse?), however worthy it is. I am sure Strauss doesn't make any personal gain from it or anything like that, but neither should Karthik or anyone be vilified for wearing the wrong colour.

That was a roller coaster session

I wanted 450 , went down to 375 when Woakes went but I’m dreaming of possibly up towards 450 if these two can continue for another hour after lunch

Bar the ridiculous delays which has seen 22 overs in a session , it’s been fun

Top class from Bumrah , a surprising lack of reddy , a ton from rooot and now a cracking partnership involving a Durham lad

Think I’ll watch the game post lunch
